More about Casa Di Barbano

Up early and on the road again

"We made our way from Florence by train"

We left Sorrento by train, changed trains in Naples and within 3 hours we had arrived in Florence. The train ride was great- comfy. We ate our lunch on board[ we made some rolls before we left Sorrento]. From the train station we set out to find our B&B

"Casa Di Barbano"

We had little trouble finding our B&B and settled in quickly. Moraq, the owner, was very friendly and made us feel at home. Our B&B was in a good location, not far from the train station and within walking distance to all the sites

"It wasn't long before we were out and about"

So much to explore in such a classic city. Beautiful Cathedrals,Shops, people watching, day trips to places so near- Pisa and Chianti were 2 we visited

Travel Tips for Florence

Florence by night

by sniem

Whenever I take friends to Florence that haven't been there yet I try to keep them away from the city until after dinner, best after 11pm. Then I take them to a walk through the city, so their first impression is not that of hords of tourists but that of a city that still seems to live in the renaissance time. It's an incredible feeling to walk through the empty cobbled streets, thinking of all the famous people who have walked through the same places.

Open Air Market at Mercato Nuovo

by geeyook about Loggia del Mercato Nuovo (o del Porcellino)

Open air market in a loggia with about 2 dozen stalls and vendors. Built 1547-1551 by Giovanni Battista del Tasso. The market is locally known as the ‘Porcellino' (swine) because of the fountain by Pietro Tacca, 1612. Be sure to rub Il Porcellino's nose. Legend has it that if you rub his nose, you will return to Florence. Leather goods, souvenirs, clothing

by simondavies7

We went to the Red Garter. What I remember of it was quite cool. Drinking beer out of stiens is a must but dont be in a rush to finish it (especially after A couple of bottles of red wine, you may see your pasta in a whole new light alot like I did) Back to the point, live music and your bound to run into Aussies Kiwis etc.. on Contiki if thats your thing. Beer in stiens
