There're many amazing things things to see in Florence, I won’t really fit them all there with all the history and beauty, it’s impossible to describe, you just have to go and see it. Traffic is not as crazy as in Rome, buildings are built with more taste and style. Beauty, Beauty, Beauty...
Style and comfort!

We were eating out all the time and as it was the off season we got some charming glimpses of waiters at their ease - standing in the doorway of the trattoria with a can of beer and a smoke chatting to their friends - and the kitchen staff would wander into sight quite often. And all the kitchen staff seemed to be wearing crocs. White crocs, green crocs, mauve crocs. I was fascinated.
Then the next day I found these fleecy lined crocs for sale. What genius dreamed that up? Just the job for nippy mornings.

You need at least two days in Florence to be able to get an overall impression of the city. Why only visit the most famous sights? There are so many beautiful buildings and squares that you don't need a map to find overwhelming places. Take a walk past Piazza Santa Croce, Santa Maria Novella, The Badia Fiorentina or just walk by the river Arno. The cool marble fountain on the photo is not famous (as I know of) but still worth a glance.

Do you want to hear English or Italian? There are spots along Dei Benci like The Red Garter that cater to the American college kids. Feels just like those frat parties we all used to love so much.
If you prefer native culture and language try San Spirito on the other side of the Arno. Great bars and pubs and a nice, open area. If you are a sports fan and feeling a little homesick there are plenty of bars to choose from. Try the Fiddler's Elbow on Santa Maria Novella. There you can always catch a good Irish soccer game along with some American football.
In Piazza San Spritio in the summer most bars set up outdoor seating that can turn into a lot of fun It's Italy, look good.
Family cooking
by argentia about Trattoria Guelfa
It's a small, family-run restaurant that serves locals. The food is fresh and tastes like my nonna's! There's a cozy ambience, with pictures and empty wine bottles around the restaurant. I had the pesto spaghetti, roast chicken breast with vegetables, and tiramisu for dessert.
