A nice two star bed and breakfast.
This is a small bed and breakfast located not far from piazza Duomo and the train station.
My room (a twin double room) was quite large with very nice furniture and bathroom en suite. The room had air contitioning and satellite television.
Buffet breakfast consisted mainly by packed food (sweets, crakers...), there were also some fresh croissants. You can also have coffee, cappuccino and other hot beverages from a machine. They were good.
The personnel were very kind.
Unique Quality: This small hotel is located in a backstreet, so you shouldn't hear much noise at day and night from the street.
I think the price I paid was very good. A double room; breakfast included costed 74 euros (2009 price). It depends on the season though.
There is a good choice of restaurants in the neighborhood.

Very nice two-star in Florence
We liked the Hotel Collodi very much, only 64 euros for a double in winter. Very nice two star with pleasant hosts, clean, reasonably large and charmingly decorated room, only 10 minutes from the train station, close to the Mercato Centrale, and within walking distance of just about everything. The only complaint I would have is breakfast, which is really not very good at all. If I were to go again, I'd ask for the price without breakfast, and find a bar down the street in the morning.
