Transport to Florence City Centre at night from FLR Airport

by ferrovia

Hi VT'ers,

I'm arriving at Florence airport 21:00. What's the best/swiftest options for getting to the city centre, without breaking the bank balance.

Have a look:

This link says that the last bus from the airport is at 11,30 pm http://www.aeroporto.firenze.it/EN/index.php?percorso=contents&jk=17&curr=0

Hy,
Is 4.50€ too much? Ataf/Sita Shuttle #55 runs almost every 1/2hour up to 2330 from Airpoit to rail station Santa Maria Novella. You can buy the ticket on board with no extra charge. Taxy costs around 20€.

Hope this helps

Travel Tips for Florence

Go to the Galleria Dell'...

by chrissyalex

Go to the Galleria Dell' Accademia and see Michelangelo's David. It truly is a spectacular representation of the human form! The one thing to notice is that the right hand is out of proportion to the rest of the body! I read in one place that they think that this oversized hand is supposed to represent the hand of God.

Stand up for better prices!

by MarvintheMartian

Many people will be aware of this, but it does no harm to say again!

Sitting down in cafes and bars often means having to pay some sort of cover charge, this usually means that the food and drink you have is just priced higher.

If you just want to sample an expresso or pastry then pay the cashier near the bar and stand at the bar. This is usually much cheaper and you'll be able to witness some of the local culture as well.

One cafe in the Piazza Della Repubblica charged €0.85 for an expresso when standing and €2.65 if you sit down.

If you have limited time, most people skip the Boboli Gardens. I think this is a must see. They are absolutely beautiful. Plus, as you leave the Gardens, you are given good luck by this mystical dwarf!

Aperitif & before clubbing

by fgfi about Zoe

Zoe is a trendy bar in San Niccolò area, a very charming neighborhood. When the evenings start to get lighter, you meet most people here and then you find them again after dinner, before going clubbing.
It's one of the most popular bar during winter time when by midnight the crowd overflows onto the street outside. Smart casual

Deliciously sublime!

by cherish about La Giostra

La Giostra is located in a dark alley but is very popular. The owner/chef is very theatrical and he goes from table to table explaining the food and telling stories. Teh atmosphere is very homey and Italian and romantic! I loved the pasta with truffle sauce- I still carve for the taste to this day. Their Bistecca Fiorentina which my dad had was amazing- at par with New York's Peter Luger. Maybe even better. The Brunello wine we order was perfect and the mix of appetizers that they give you are just amazing. The desserts- especially the tiramisu and this fruit ice cream thing I can't describe-well just fabulous. Cannot rave enough.
