Comvenient & Comfortable
We were with 2 small kids. So we didn't want to walk around the labyrinth (I mean unfamiliar town) with out big luggage. This hotel is located within 5 min walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella station. It was so easy to reach there!
The hotel stuff were all well mannered and friendly. We had pleasant time.
During our stay in Florence, we stayed this hotel twice. So we could stay in 2 rooms. The first room (3 photos in this page) had 2 floors with enough or too much space for us. Each floor has a bathroom, one with bathtub and the other one without. The second room was just 1 room, yet enough space (no photo).
The distance from the city center is just 10-15 min walk. Also you can visit Santa Maria Novella Church quickly. It's in front of the hotel.
Most of the bus stop at the station. So if you plan to go to Giardino di Boboli or Piazzale Michelangelo by bus, or some excursions by train, it's the best place to stay. The access to the station or Florence city center is so convenient.
The one thing that I can complain about the hotel is the sound of running water. It might be a common problem in every hotel, but a bit noisy in this hotel.
Unique Quality: There is a swimming pool in the backyard. Usually, there is a lifesaver who is a very nice lady. It's so nice to stay around even in the middle summer in Florence (so hot!!).

Florence Near the Train Station
We chose the Croce di Malta because the hotel we were booked into was small and dirty, so we crossed the street and went to the Croce di Malta. Lovely room with a living room on the first floor and a 1/2 bath and large bedroom and bath on the second floor. Quite noisy at night since the hotel's bar is quite popular.

Hi, Wonder if anyone knows or has stayed at the Croce Di Malta?
It is located via Della Scala in city center. We are looking for a hotel

My Sister-In-Law and I stayed there in February 2005 and were very happy. The room was of what I find to be a typical size in Florence. Very clean. The staff was fine, though everything was ok, and we really didn't need to interact with them much.
The restaurant right in the hotel is excellent and we ate there several times. There are also a few very good restaurants on the same street.
It's a great location, too. About a 10 - 15 min walk to the historic district. Also close to the SITA bus terminal for day trips.
When we were there, obviously, the pool was closed, so I can't help you out there. All in all, I would defintiely stay there again. Absolutely!
