More about Dei Mori Bed & Breakfast
Wonderful base in the heart of the city
I and my partner have just returned from a wonderful weekend break in Florence and the best part was the DeiMori. From the outset when we were wonderfully welcomed and shown to our rooms we immediately felt at home.
Everything was just right from the great location (even though we did have to climb a few steps, we were only a few steps from all the places of ineterst in this wonderful city.), to the comfortable beds - nothing was any trouble for the hosts - they quickly responded to all our requests - synthetic pillow aagainst allergies etc etc etc.
One of the best features was their local knowledge - they directed us to restaurants they frequented, told us all the tips for seeing Florence without the queues and generally showed interest in our holiday and they loved to share their experiences with us.
The rooms were spotless, comfortable, quiet and well fitted.
We shall certainly be returning and would wholeheartedly recommend DeiMori to anyone who wanted a good place to stay in Florence.
A Gem in the Center of Firenze
Many things about Florence just cannot be improved upon. One of those is the delightful little B&B in the heart of the Florence’s “centro storico” called Dei Mori. This October marked the 4th time I’ve stayed there. The hosts at Dei Mori (Daniele, Peter, Susanne & Franco) have grown as dear to me as the art and architecture of the city, itself. Their warm enthusiastic greeting inevitably makes one feel that they are a welcome house-guest; no longer a stranger traveling in a foreign land.
Located in the center of the Renaissance heart of Florence, on the very street where Dante Alighieri had his home, you get the feeling of being allowed to explore the museum after closing hours. Everything is literally just a few steps from your front door. The hosts are experts at organizing your sight-seeing day to be as comprehensive or laid-back as you choose, making museum reservations as needed. Their dining recommendations have lead to some of the most memorable meals I had in Florence, often in a small “trattoria” I may have otherwise overlooked.
The guest rooms are charming, comfortable and well-appointed. The frescoed ceilings in the public rooms (and certain guest rooms) were discovered and restored by Daniele years ago during a remodel. The book shelves contain hundreds of art, history & guide books which can serve to illuminate your Florentine adventures. Dei Mori B&B is, in my opinion, one of those inns that the passionate traveler always hopes to discover and never forgets.
We have just returned from a fabulously romantic, long weekend in Florence. The stay was made even more intimate by the warm and friendly welcome we received from our hosts, Danny and Peter, who made us feel so special and privileged in the Dei Mori B & B. Their helpful advice on where to go, sites to see and restaurants to suit every taste was much appreciated. The Hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of the city down a quiet, traffic free street with easy access to all the sites and shops.
The 2 flights of stairs up to the hotel are not for the faint hearted but did help to build up a thirst for the delightful Italian Proseco wine on offer in the hotel. Salute Danny and Peter.
We have just returned from 10 wonderful days in Italy. We stayed at the Dei Mori B&B in Florence, very conveniently located blocks from the Duomo. Peter and Suzanne could not have made us feel more welcome. We decided to stay for 2 more nights, and because they did not have availability, they were gracious enough to secure us lodging at another small hotel just blocks away which also was more than satisfactory. We will be highly recommending the Dei Mori to friends who are looking for a gracious, welcoming B&B in the heart of Florence.
Excellent place to Stay
We stayed for three nights. We made our way to the hotel from the train by catching the Electric Bus, which stopped right outside the hotel.
Prior to arriving we were sent information about what attractions were in the area.
On arrival we were greated by friendly staff who gave us further information on the area and places to go.
The room was nicely furnished and neat and clean.
Would return and stay again.
Excellent location and attendant, but could use other creature comforts
Our intent in Florence was to stay at a nice B&B with a good location. The DeiMori filled that expectation, but we felt a few creature comforts (soap, shampoo, tissues, better lighting in sitting room, additional breakfast tables) would benefit the stay. The breakfast was very good, but some variety in selection (e.g. same breakfast roll each day) would improve the stay. The attendant, Susanne, provided us excellent advise on things to do, locations around the city, and places to eat. We were unable to take advantage of DeiMori's offer for a free dinner (for a five night stay) at Amy's since the owner was out of the area and Susanne was unable to authorize an "alternative perspective" coupon (two rooms for three days) without his approval. Our weather was cold and wet, so that put a damper on things too, but all in all a nice stay in Florence at DeiMori.
Central and Friendly
You couldn't find a better place to stay in Florence. This charming bed and breakfast is right in the heart of Florence, it offers clean and tidy rooms at excellent value, but where it really excels is the friendly and helpful service. Danny and Peter are happy to make recommendations of Florence’s highlights, especially restaurants, which I can tell you from experience were amazing. So in summary, visit Florence and stay at Dei Mori and you’ll have a fantastic time.
Cannot praise it enough
I stayed at deiMori for 5 nights and cannot praise it enough. Peter looked after me for the most part and he was just so kind. Nothing was too much trouble and all his recommendations were spot on. Warm, comfortable and just so friendly and was exactly what I was looking for.
If you want the best place to stay in Florence, then this must be it. Great location, spotlessly clean and with a fantastic welcome. Good luck DeiMori, you certainly deserve it.
The rooms were of a fair size, excellent beds, realdown duvets - the bathrooms were big enough and the linen of excellent quality.
Many thanks to all at DeiMori
Superb from the impressive welcome to the efficient checkout.
I took my wife for a short break and we stayed at this great hotel just a few steps from most of the places of interest in Florence.
I was impressed from the start with the efficient and attentive booking procedure, the clearly detailed reservation contract and the polite and informative way my reservation was handled.
Using their clearly detailed directions, I arrived in Via Dante Alighieri and was met by Danny who told me everything I needed to know in a charming manner. He described suitable restaurants to visit, the best way of seeing the city and clever tips for saving money.
We were soon taken to our room - number three and my wife was delighted with the clean appearance and the Italian feel - so much better than the plastic hotels we get used to these days. As is usual, the first thing we checked was the bed and after a few nights of heaven, we knew that we had found our home in this Italian city. Top quality mattresses, real down duvets, proper towels and just a general feeling of comfort and wellbeing.
This extended right the way through our stay. We also met Peter and Suzanne and they all just went out of their way to make our stay at DeiMori memorable for all the right reasons.
The sitting room is comfortable and warm and there is even a terrace (unusual for Florence central hotels) where I could have a smoke. I would imagine that it is wonderful there in the summer to have breakfast with that Italian feel all around.
All was great, but if I have to focus, it was the warmth of the welcome which impressed me most - the team there just made me feel special. This, coupled with the level of comfort and the wonderful location make this my number one attraction for Florence and one to which we shall certainly return.
Just what we were looking for!
From the friendly welcome to the helpful check-out our stay at Dei Mori was wonderful. Our room and bathroom were very clean and the bed (with feather pillows and duvet) enormously comfy. Location was perfect; very central and easily within walking distance of anything you'd want to see. As our room didn't face the street it was always quiet at night. Museum and dinner recommendations were great. Thanks Susanne, Danny and Peter! We'll be back someday!
