Everything in Florence is...

Everything in Florence is beautiful. It's narrow streets, the colored houses and the Ponte Vecchio I adored. That bridge sure is beautiful. You must absolutely go to the Piazzale Michelangelo, it's a steep walk up hill but it's worth it. From there you'll have a great view of the city! Also the Giardino di Boboli (a park in Florence) is a nice place to have lunch in. When you're in Florence for a longer time, you could also visit the town Siena which is close by (a bus goes there from Florence). This town is very beautiful and well known for the annual horse races that are held here in the summer. When I think of Florence I think of the Passegiata at night. The very important walk around town everybody does every night just to show themselves and meet people.
La Pescaia
by fgfi
The dam that crosses the river between San Frediano and the far side of Ponte Vespucci is the Pescaia di Santa Rosa, one of several spillways designed to guarantee a supply of water to mills (which have since been removed) during periods of drought
There you can often see people getting suntan during summer, even if it's a very hot place and it doesn't smell that good. It's located beneath the Santa Rosa Tower, a remnant of the ancient city walls.

This looked lovely, from an open window in the museum.
Access isn't easy (only open on Saturdays from 8.30 till 2) but, if the timings fit your itinerary, I think it would be well worth a wander. Lots of 'features', and an entirely magnificent yew tree.

There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and relax with friends in true Italian style. Pubs and cafes are all over the place. Italians love to stroll around and socialize with each other. I looked into some nightclubs but they all seemed to attract a younger crowd.
The Food was the Draw - The Service was the Ringer

Dining in Italy can be intimidating (especially solo), but there were no airs in this place, even considering the distinguished pedigree. From the antipasti, primi piatti, secondi piatti right down to the dolci (don't forget the limoncello!) it was just lovely.
What made this the best evening in florence was Lenl, my waiter, and Gino, the proprietor (pictured here). They made me feel so at home.
