where to stay and tips for tango lovers
by Valentina82
I'd suggest to rent a house instead of an agriturismo, it could be much cheaper and independent, especially if you get it in Siena, Arezzo or Pistoia:
visit www.summerinitaly.com or www.interhome.com to get more information
there's a famous "milonga" tango club in Florence: http://ita.tango.info/salons/ITFLR
this is a good portal with precious suggestions about tango events and clubs in Tuscany: http://www.tangoitalia.com/tango/florence.html
Hope it helps!
Enjoy Italy,
Ciao :-)
Go into see Michelangelo's...
by rozehill
Go into see Michelangelo's 'David' a wonderful experience. Just a brilliant work of art. This is now on display in Galleris Dell' Accademia as it was vandalised in the past. There is a copy of the 'David' in the Piazza Signoria. Also a bronze copy of the 'David' in Piazzale Michelangelo, and other places.
Casa di Dante
by Tijavi
Fans of the Il Sommo Poeta (The Supreme Poet) Dante Alighieri would be pleased to know that the Florentine and Italian authorities have "reconstructed" his birthplace for what could be a potential object of some sort of pilgrimage (if it's not that yet). It's an unassuming two-storey casa built in 1910 on the foundations of the original house, on an otherwise nondescript street corner, except that the street has been named after Dante. The clear distinguishing sign is the sculpted stone marker that contains the poet's surname.
The house doubles as a museum devoted to Dante, of course, but I didn't had the chance to see how it is.
To reach Dante's house from Via dei Calzaiuoli, turn right at Via Tavolini and continue walking up to Via Dante Alighieri. The house is located at the corner of Via Dante Alighieri and Via D. Magazzini.

A really good and quiet restaurant
by koalaki13 about Peperoncino
it is in a quiet little street of Florence seconds away from Adler Cavalleri Hotel. the food was excellent. the chef comes to you by the time you finish your lunch and asks you how it was like. the menu was in italian so i cannot give you names. one thing is for sure...the food was very tasty
