Our room was a little rough around the edges and the bathroom was rather small, but overall it was fine and clean. I thought I'd be glad to be near the back away from the busy Via Cavour, but instead our window opened onto a little shaft in between houses (so no view of anything but other rooms and concrete) and this carried noise from other rooms that had their windows open. Staff were friendly though, there was a lovely little old Italian guy who was very sweet, and the location is quite central.
The Gioia is a small hotel with about 20 guestrooms. It is located in the heart of Florence, very close to the duomo (about 5 minutes walk). It is very clean and quiet (if you keep the windows shut!).
The breakfast is very small. Italian people tend to not eat so much breakfast. But the milkcoffee and the hot chocolate are deliciouse!!!!
