Hello, I am planning my trip to Italy and would like to spend a week near Sienna. I would use this area as a base to go to Lucca, Florence and Assisi as well. The following hotels are within my limited budget but I need to know if they are with in easy access to a train station. I will not have a car nor do I want to splurge on taxi cabs. Here are the hotels I have narrowed it down to to. Please comment on the locations in terms of using the place as a good base.
Hotel I Due Cigni, Via Del Cipresso 2 - S Albino
Chianciano Terme, SI
Hotel Del Lago
Abbadia San Salvatore, SI
Casole D Elsa, SI
Park Hotel Arcobaleno
any comments or advice is welcome..thank you
some of these towns don't even have train stations so you might first want to find out what places have train stations and then look for hotels near them that are in your budget. You can get train information at www.trenitalia.com
Trenitalia used to have a map on the web site but I can no longer find it. You could probably use Google Maps or Mappy to find the stations in various places
Here is a map of the major rail lines in Tuscany
This may help with your planning.
ok...I think I will just find a cheap hostel in Florence...thanks again.
