Perfect Location in Florence

Photographs:
1. I took this photo after I opened the window in our hotel room. It was a beautiful rooftop view across the way.
2. While I lay on my side of the bed with the windows wide open in our hotel room, I took this photo in order to include the tower.
Hotel Della Signoria is located in the historical center between Della Signoria square and the famed Ponte Vecchio.
Our room was immaculate with a large window, queen bed, chair, desk, central air, and beautiful bathroom.
There is a terrace for eating breakfast or a room just off the terrace. The management is friendly and quite helpful. The location is its greatest feature. We walked to everything. Being so close to Piazza Signoria is the best!
An Ideal Location in Florence
by deecat about Hotel Della Signoria
While in Florence for the second time, we stayed in the perfect location at the Hotel Della Signoria in the historical center between Della Signoria square and the famed Ponte Vecchio.
It has a very small lobby, but the desk attentant is helpful, efficient, and friendly. Our room was immaculate. It had a large window, queen bed, one chair, desk, centra air conditioning, and a beautiful en-suite bathroom.
The room itself was not very large, but it was sufficient. I remember that we did a good deal of hand washing in the sink and had our clothing hanging on the window ledge (inside the room) to dry so it looked cluttered most of the time. There is a terrace for eating breakfast or a room just off the terrace.. The breakfast was included in the price of the hotel room, and it was quite nice.
The management was friendly and quite willing to help in any way possible. They were always answering our many questions.
The location is this hotel's greatest feature. We walked to everything. Being so close to Piazza Signoria is the best!

Piazza della Signoria (Florence)

As we were staying in the piazza, this was our first siteseeing stop. The Piazza della Signoria has been the centre of Florentine life for centuries and still is -- from workers scurrying through in the morning to go to work to couples and families out for an evening stroll, gelato in hand.
The Palazzo Vecchio is the well-known landmark here, and was once home to Florence's town hall; a huge bell was in the bell tower and rang for meetings or to warn the citizens of dangers. A bell still rings, but I think it's from the clock, rather than from the tower. The piazza is also home to the fake David ( a copy replaced the original David in the 1800's when he was moved to the Accademia museum) Other important sculptures are located here, plus the entrance to the Uffizi, Italy's greatest art museum is located nearby.
Restaurants surround the piazza, and they are a bit touristy, but you have to eat here once and watch the world go by -- highly recommended.
Piazza della Signoria, Florence

Piazza della Signoria is a L-shaped square located in front of Palazzo Vecchio in the center of Florence. It was named after Palazzo della Signoria which is also known as Palazzo Vecchio. It is a great square to stroll and enjoy the beautiful statues and scenery in the square or just people watching. The location is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Florence and one of our favourite spots in the city.
Piazza delle Signoria was the civic centre of Florentine life for ages! Among the popular landmarks around the square beside Palazzo della Signoria are Loggia della Signoria, Palazzo degli Uffizi, Palazzo degli Uguccioni (16th century), Palazzo del Tribunale di Mercanzia (1359) which is home to Bureau of Agriculture today, and Palazzo Assicurazioni Generali (1871).
The square is also considered an open-air museum due to the many lovely statues placed in the square such as the bronze statue of Great Duke Cosimo I, the Ammanneti Fountain (1575), Rape of Sabines designed by Giambologna in 1583 and Hercules and the Centaur also designed by Giambologna (1599). Don't miss Piazza della Signoria when you are in Florence!
