Great Central Hotel
My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon in 2005, and we loved it! It was literally a block from the train station (Santa Maria Novella), which also made it very centrally located. We were easily able to walk almost everwhere (which is pretty much your main form of transportation through the small streets of Florence).
Our hotel room was nice and very big (especially by European standards). We had our own air conditioner, en-suite bathroom, balcony, and free breakfast (in the breakfast room). Because of where it was located in the hotel, there was a private sitting area just outside the room. (I believe we were in room #7, but I can't be sure.) There was also a small bar in the hotel. Sergio, the guy who ran the hotel was great! He was always helpful and pleasant to speak with. There was 24 hour service at the reception desk. So, it was no problem staying out late.
I would highly recommend this hotel!
**Note: There are actually three hotels in this building. I believe Hotel Erina is on the 2nd floor (maybe 3rd). But, there is a lift. So, you shouldn't have to worry about stairs.
