Visit to the Porcelain Museum in Florence

by goldenm

My wife an I are interested in visiting the Porcelain Museum in Florence. Since we both have problems with walking (we are not in wheelchairs) I would like to know if there is any public transportation to the museum?

Hello! I have found two sites which may be helpful in planning your trip to the museum. The first one is the official site of the museum itself with some information about how to get there, the second one is the site of the transportation company in Florence with line maps and so.

Hopefully this might help a little anyway, regards Lars.

Travel Tips for Florence

You have to eat in one of the...

by rtschneider

You have to eat in one of the little cafes. Most of them are standing room only but well worth it even if you are tired from walking all day. I noticed that there seemed to be less tourists in these places. You can get sandwiches and pastries and wine. Things like that. My favorite was the foccia bread with sliced tomato, real mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. Plus with a glass of wine. Yummy! I still crave those sandwiches and my only chance to come close here is my friend's Italian Grandma!

Lunch time!

by fgfi

I Fratellini ( the little bros), is a small, but very small wine bar where locals working in the city centre like to go for lunch. If you go there at that time you will find lots of peolple standing in a queu. You can there dring a glass of wine and a sandwich with pecorino cheese, or roasted pork, or vegetables in oil or many other combinations!

Little carvings.

by leics

The buildings of Florence are, of course, stunning and in some ways overwhelming. It's easy to miss the little details, but they are worth looking for.

Outside the Duomo and Baptistry, particularly around the doorways, there are many such little things. Executed with great skill (and, I like to think, love) to me they exemplify the feelings of the ordinary workmen who built the stunning buildings far more than the grandeur of the entirity. So I always spend time using my zoom, and looking to see what I can see. The angels in particular are fascinating.......their expressions, their attitudes.......and I like to wonder whose faces they are based upon (for all Medieval stonemasons based their human carvings on people they knew, or had seen).

So take a moment to explore the intricacy around you; you might be surprised at what you find.

Brazilian wonder

by gfinesilver about Maracana'

For an amazing all night experience, this is the place. There is a Traditional Brazilian meal with Carne a' Spada and loads to eat followed by a samba show ending in a discoteca that goes all night. Certainly one of my favorite places in Florence although the full evening is somewhat expensive. Nice club clothes

Good italian food in a quiet garden

by jantichm about Il Giardino Di Barbano

The restaurant is big, but the best tables are in the inner garden. This garden is very quiet and nice.

The restaurant is managed by a family. You'll find friendly people. Pizzas are cooked in a wooden oven. Pasta is good option too, although I recommend you its salads.

Chianti is good.
