Nice place at perfect location for excellent price
Compared to our reasonably expensive and so so hotel in Milan, our three days in this hotel were bliss. It's one street off the Central Station (Santa Maria Novella) and thanks to that the street is quiet, even though there are hundreds of cars and tourists passing through the main street just a few dozen metres away.
There was a nice old elevator which worked well. We were well received and were shown to our rooms, each receiving a map of Florence which pointed out the main highlights. The corridors were nice and light and had armchairs to sit in.
Me, paying €39 per night in late July, had a room with only the toilet external. The room was decent, with a nice bed, not too soft, a no charge safe in the wardrobe and a surprisingly pleasant shower. It leaked in one corner, which was visible through some curling in the plastic floor. One small foot towel there and problem solved.
Main flaw of the room was that the walls were a bit old and there had certainly been a leak from above in the corner before, for it had plastic covering.
The external toilet was as clean as any decent person would have it; shining, no spots or stripes, everything was fixed, so no wobbling toilet seat. Main flaw was that there was no towel to dry your hands.
The location is more than excellent. It's right off the Central Station, making it perfect for short travellers or people coming in by train. But the hotel is still quiet, since it's one street behind the main one.
There are only buses in Florence, no metros or trams, so most people walk. Thanks to the map, this was not unpleasant. But in late July, there were thousands of tourists in Florence, making the streets packed and creating long lines for the Duomo (Florence's famous Cathedral).
We went to and opera on the other side of the river. Even that is a nice walking distance, maybe fifteen minutes.
A good place for a good price. And free use of the computer and printing.
I must not forget to mention the breakfast, which was at the top floor, offering a good view over the city. Food was okay, but not special. Drinks were nice.
Unique Quality: - Prime location
- Nice staff
- Good working elevator and good looking hotel
- Great view from top floor breakfast area

Small but sweet
I just came from Florence and stayed in this hotel for two nights. It is situated in a convenient location, since it is in front of Santa Maria Novella station, corner with Mc Donalds. It is a block of four hotels and Hotel Fiortia is on the 3rd floor. The receptionist was really helpful and nice. Also breakfast was great and a great view from the breakfast room.
Rooms were always clean, the only thing that there was no hot water.
But I will definetely go another time there since I'm in love with Florence.
Unique Quality: Very good location
