Easiest transportation from Pisa Airport to Florence

by MiKohl

Which do you think is easier from the Pisa Airport to Florence, the bus or the train?

Any help in finding the departure location of either from Pisa would be appreciated as well. I'll be arriving about 15:00 at the Pisa airport and would like to get to Florence as easily/efficiently as possible.

Thanks in advance for the help and advice. (Florence... see you soon!)

I've never used the bus but know from experience that the train is very straight forward and the website for the airport indicates the bus is too. Your arrival time may well be the deciding factor - there are many more buses each day than trains

The railway station is connected to the terminal via a covered walkway. Services run to Pisa Centrale and Florence (Firenze SMN),

Ex Pisa A'port: 06:41 10:42 11:43* 12:43* 17:53 22:20 *Not Sunday

Arr Florence SMN: 08:03 12:23 13:03 14:03 19:23 23:50

Cost - about 6 euro

The bus takes about the same time but is a little more expensive. Check

for details, timetable, etc

Better link for train info in English:

I've used both methods. Both take about the same time, but you may have to change trains at Pisa Centrale. The airport train takes about 5 very slow minutes to get to P Centrale, and you may have to change platforms.

The Terravision bus goes from the airport car park and drops you off outside Santa Maria Novella station in Florence. Best to book your tickets online for this: coaches get full-up whilst trains do not.

Buses can get stuck in traffic congestion, so your arrival and departures times are relevant from this point of view.

Having used both, on balance I'd say train is the safest option in terms of time-keeping. So I'd choose bus from and train to the airport (and did).

Travel Tips for Florence

PONTE VECCHIOThis famous...

by tanianska

PONTE VECCHIO
This famous 14th-century bridge, built by Taddeo Gaddi and home to medieval Florence's gold and silversmiths, is still paved with jewellers' shops today. The Ponte Vecchio's genteel atmosphere dates back to the days of Cosimo de' Medici, a member of the city's ruling dynasty in Renaissance times, who threw out a group of butchers who set up shop on the bridge. Above the shops that line the bridge is a secret passageway known as the Corridoio Vasariano, linking the Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery and the Pitti Palace, and originally built as a private passage for the Medici family. The Ponte Vecchio was the only bridge across the River Arno to be spared German bombing during World War II.

Palazzo Strozzi

by croisbeauty

Palazzo Strozzi is very monumental building, looks almost like a fortress, which dominates the square with the same name. It is situated just a foot from Piazza della Repubblica.
The palace was built from 1489 to 1539 by famous architect Benedetto da Maiano in Italian Renaissance style. It is a typical Firentine palazzo pattern which favours a flat facade build of rusticated stone.

Authentic Tuscan Cuisine

If you don't mind paying for the cab fare to get to Bagno a Ripoli which is about 30 mins from the city center, don't miss out on 2 restaurants that are frequented by locals for excellent food. Centanni and Trattoria Donini get great reviews from people in Florence who've been there. If you enjoy good food, like I do, the trip will be worth it!

Tourist disco

by gfinesilver about The Yab

Like many florentine clubs, it is full of sleazy italians trying to pick up on american girls.
It does have the only Hip Hop in town in a discoteca on Mondays. Get a free entrance card at Shot caffe' before 11. Club clothes

Dont' miss the BISTECCA ALLA FIORENTINA

by gial1 about Restaurant LATINI

It is one of the best restaurants here in Florence. There is always a line in front of it before entering. People have to wait in order to sit and eat, but the owners give them delicious chees, hams, and great white wine as appetizers. When you get inside you immediately can feel how great the restaurant is: a lot of bottles of the best tuscany wine, hams, porks. You can't miss the Ribollita, Pappa al pomodoro (two typical florence soups), and Bistecca alla fiorentina, Gran Pezzo (great beefsteack, soft like butter!!!!).
When you finish the owner will bring you the Vinsanto and the biscotti di prato
