Can someone tell me if the via de Barbano (Piazza della Indipendeza) is near the city center of Florence? If not, how far from it? Is it a convenient location to stay (close and secure)?
And which is the most popular way to move around in Florence?
Thanks!
probably about 15 minutes from the duomo walking. you would be closer to san lorenzo (leather) and santa maria novella (train station). the most popular way to move around florence is probably by vespa despite the cobblestone streets. walking will get you to a lot of places and there are lots of buses.
It is close. You can expect to be in the heart of the city in 10-15 mins walk. I have no clue regarding safety issues, as I'm from Milano. And, because of the many people and the narrow streets, the most popular way to move around is on foot. You may consider the bus only if you go up to S Miniato.
Thank you both!

You go to Florence and visit the museums, churches, galleries, monuments, leather and jewerly stores, and great dining spots. Then you leave.
Basta! (stop!) Cross over the bridge. The Ponte Vecchio is a good one and walk along the street on the other side and look down.
A magnificent river runs through this beautiful city, the River Arno, and it is well worth the time to casually stroll the banks to enjoy the view of the river. It is refreshing to see the flow of life that helped create this place called Firenze.
It's a small little jewlery store, but they have a great selection and the clerks are very helpful. Tourist pay no tax here. This is where I bought my pink coral and gold earrings... $20 USD on up to....
There are many regular trains from Rome Termini to Florence SMN almost every hour, its only 1.5 hours distance
Taxis, or just walk since the city is easily walkable, you have to walk slowly, there is so much to see and take in, the Duomo is around 15 minutes walk from SMN station ad Pitti Palace 5 minutes from the Duomo and Ponte Vechhio around 10 minutes
This ristorante/pizzeria serves meals from the Tuscany kitchen. While through the window you can see the duomo.
Opening times:
12:00-15:30 / 18:30-00:00
closed on tuesday. Pizza and pasta, also the antipasta were great.
