Great guesthouse in the middle of the city!
This place is listed as a hostel on Hostelworld, and yes, there are some rooms with 4 person occupancy, but it's more of a guesthouse than a hostel. This is because Loenardo, the sweet man who runs the counter and the house to the bone, is down to earth, useful for tips on what to do, and a genuinely patient and content man. The walk is only about 5 minutes from the bus station.

A great, affordable guesthouse
The Leondardo House is located in an unassuming building on Via Trebbio, right in the heart of Florence. While bathroom facilities are shared, they are well-kept and usually not overwhelmed by demand. The rooms themselves are simple, clean, and very pleasant, some with small verandas. One of the most affordable, comfortable options for those on a budget.
