Go up to the top of Duomo's bell tower. The beautiful tower is 82M high, which designed by Giotto.
Climbing up(not by elevator!) is absolutely interesting, and from the top you can enjoy the whole city view.

Hey
I am thinking if going to Florence in December to learn italian for 3 weeks and was wondering if anyone has been to the Michelangelo School? If so whats it like? I also wanted to know if anyone who had been to this school used them to get a shared student apartment? Their apartments are really cheap and I just worry about the location and state of them. Any info would be great. Do you think 3 weeks is enough time or am I wasting my time as I will be flying from Australia to Florence to learn it and can only fit 3 weeks.
Thanks for your help!
Jess
I have studied at the school and found it excellent. The teachers are very good with small clasees and alot of flexibility. The school has a good location near Santa Croce. The students come from all over the world and are very good at languages since many are European. I would go for at least 4 weeks if you are serious about Italian. You will learn alot in 4 weeks. The classes are immersion and 4 weeks will be like 2 years of studying Italian at your University.
They, also offer other classes such as cooking, art, etc. The cooking class was fun.
They offer weekend excursions which are very good and group dinners which are inexpensive and fun.
I didn't share an apartment with anyone, but visited some of them and found them to be fine. The apartments were all located within walking distance of the school. They, also offer family stays but I wouldn't suggest that since it's better to interact with the students with meals and other activities.
No Worries!!

When you are visiting churches, be sure not to wear miniskirts or have your shoulders exposed! You can wear spaghetti straps if you bring a shawl or scarf to cover up when you step inside the churches. So I think it is a good idea to bring one along with you or buy one there. Especially if it is summer and warm and you do not want to walk around all bundled up!
To reach THE MALL by train from Florence, take the train from Maria Santa Novella station direction Borgo San Lorenzo (regional). Your destination is NOT Sieci BUT Rignano. From Rignano you can get a taxi (max price ~10 EURO). It's just 5 min to the mall.
If you're leaving Florence pretty early in the morning, let's say the first flight of the day, don't bother getting to the airport 3 hours before the flight, because the airport's not going to be open anyways! Italians like to take their time in the morning. . . savor the cappucino. I think at the earliest they open at 5ish. . .
Small off the beaten path hidden family run restaurant, affordable and yet deserves at least 5 stars.
If you're going for lunch go early cause it gets packed with locals... The pastas (of course), the fried zucchini flowers with mushrooms, all served with the house chianti hmmm.....
