I stayed at an apartment-hotel, sited in an old monastery that was refurbished, it´s a beautiful building name Palazzo dei Ciompi, a very serious place that offers one bed room apartments up to four bed apartments. It´s quite central just about 300 meters down to the Dome on an quite, no-traffic street.
The apartment I stayed in was called Lorenzo Magnifico a duplex on the last two floors, a real gem. The kitchen was totally equipped and we had two separate rooms each one with a separate bath and a living area with a kitchen. The look over the city form the upper room was just amazing with windows heading in all four cardinal directions.
All that for 200 euros per night is not a lot since you could house 4 adults, no problem at all!
Unique Quality: Everything about the apartment and the view!
Hi. Any thoughts on the Palazzo dei Ciompi? I have seen mixed reviews about theoir hospitality. Any better choices for 2 nights in an apartment for 3 adults and 3 children (12-6)? Don't need anything fancy, and we will be arriving and departing by train.
Hi - we recently stayed at Casa Rovai. It was fantastic. Great location - 2 minutes to the Duomo. Beautiful rooms - with high ceilings and frescos, private baths, tv, etc. Breakfast is included. There are doubles, triples, (and I believe quad) rooms available. Children are welcome. Their website is http://www.casarovai.it/. You can check additional reviews on tripadvisor.
We booked the Florence Ciompi Apartments through initaly.com. I think the address is 19 Pietrapiana. We checked in, got the keys, the rooms were great. We had a patio near the top. Great experience. It is an apartment, you are not going to get hospitality and service. I have had the same experience renting apartments in London and Paris. Actually, the fact that there was actually a person there most of the time during the day is more than I have experienced with other apartment rentals. There is a great pizza place just down the street on the way to Santa Croce. We had five adults and it took 2 taxis to get us from the train station to the apartment. It is a 20 minute walk if you want to save 35 euros. Have a great time. Karl
