Porta Rossa Hotel

Porta Rossa was a very plesant hotel. The staff was polite, the room was plesant, the breakfast was good, and most importantly, it was very well located for sightseeing.

Unique Quality: We were on the third floor, and the room opened off of a common room with sofa and chairs. The view from our room was a pretty one of tiled roofs. Florence was so plesant to be in because the city center allowed no motorized traffic except for taxis and motor scooters.

Directions: On Via Porta Rossa, 2 minutes walk from the Baptistry and the duomo.

The Porta Rossa located close to Piazza Republica is the oldest hotel in Florence dating back to the 13th century. Friends of mine stayed there in March and their room was huge and absolutely lovely. The ceiling was about 7meters above and it was all furnished with antiques.

Unique Quality: The breakfast wasn't that good, but to get a good breakfast in an italian city hotel you have to pay more than the 150 Euro they paid for the double room a night.
