Il Viola

Tutti cosa! Florence retains its old qualities and even though this is somewhat deminished by the tourist aspect of street sellers trying to flog you bags and sunglasses its beauty shines through. Florence is my favourite city in the world although I can't pinpoint one particualar aspect, the architecture is amazing and the views from the surrounding hills looking down on the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio are excellent, especially from Piazza Michelangelo. Everytime I come to Florence its purely the view from Piazza Michelangelo that remains my fondest memory, I always think of Giacomo Puccini's - O Mio Babbino Caro when Im there.
pay homage to the world's BEST...

pay homage to the world's BEST sculpture (in my personal opinion) - and that is Michaelangelo's incomparable statue of 'David'.
No trip to Florence is complete without a visit to the Accadamia Museum! But please take note of the SHORT opening hours. It nearly drove me nuts having to take note of the erratic opening hours of the shops and museums here in Italy!
Leaning Tower
by bpwillet
Attributed to the architect Bonanno Pisano the project to build this tower began in 1173. However, the tower began to lean just 10 years after it was begun. It was the architect Tomasso di Andrea da Pontedera who realized that the Leaning Tower could not be straightened around 1275. It wasn't completed until about 1350. The tower has been visited by many and is where Galileo conducted some of his famous experiments on falling objects. It now leans at 16 feet but you can enter and have a view from the top. If it is open.
SEEDY SEEDY SPACE-GOERS - Ha!!! What a Night!!!i
by huwhit about Space Electronic Night Club
Well, the highlight of my night at this establishment was the Wet-T-Shirt context upstairs in the main dancefloor area. It has stadium style seating above and a huge stage AND an awesome location for the DJ's.
Downstairs is a little bit more sedate with booths and huge TV's.
The men in Italy freaked the girls out a little bit as they are fairly forward - and don't be suprised if you see very young children or very old women and men in there.
It is a great experience nonetheless, and often happens when going out OS, it can get pretty messy!!!
Enjoy! From memory, they won't let you in with shorts on or thongs, but other than that they're pretty easy.
expensive but worth it for that special night
by sirgaw about Ciro and Sons
Ciro and Sons fine restaurant is located in a building that was home to Pope Clemente VIII. The main dining room features frescos painted in the late 18th century.
Diner including wine will set you back a lot of money, however for that special night it is worth the trip
