Does anyone know of a hotel in Florence that has rooms with fireplaces??
I will be there on my honeymoon on Dec.25th.
Also, how do I get from the main train station to the airport?
Thank you!!!
Hi there!
Got a great one for you - Residenza Vespucci.
This is a first class B&B, with reasonable prices, located right on the Arno, just about 6 minuts walk up from the Uffizi. They have 3 suites here, one is a one bedroom with view of Ponte Vecchio and Arno, a fireplace and balcony. The other two are 3 bedroom units, though if they are not booked they may place you one of these at the one bedroom rate. There were some reviews on the place that said that they did this.
The rates for the one bedroom were Euro 150-300 and the 3 bedroom from Euro 300+.
See the photos and details on their website - very thorough.

Also, which airport are you trying to get to? Florence/Peretola (FLR) or Pisa? Is there a reason you need to get there from the main train station instead of your hotel?
As an FYI, Pisa is reacheable by train - I think it's around 45 minutes direct to the airport. There's also a bus.
FLR is reacheable by quick taxi (about 15-20 Euro, depending on time of day) or by bus from the train station.
Buona fortuna! LL
Hi everyone. Me and my husband are going to Florence June 16-20, 2008. We would really like something near the main train station that is not too expensive, since we will be in Italy for 3 weeks! We've been looking at hotel websites/reviews/etc., and there are quite a few that look good. However I am torn because they pretty much all have an equal amount of good and bad reviews. If anybody could recommend anything, we would appreciate it very much! Thank you!
I guess it depends on what you consider "moderately priced." We stayed at the wonderful Residenza Vespucci (http://www.residenzavespucci.it/ENG/index2.htm), about a 7 minute walk from the Stazione Santa Maria Novella and right on the Arno and considered 150 Euros a night moderate priced for the space, location, and individual attention that we received from Francesco. What is your price range?
Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look at the website. We'd really like to stay under $300 Canadian a night, but $150-$250 would be preferred. We're willing to pay a little more for something a bit nicer or better location, but we don't need anything really fancy because we're on somewhat of a budget and won't be spending a lot of time in our room.
