Will be staying in Hotel Martelli, has someone been to this hotel? How was it? Is it close to the historic centre?

Many thanks,
Stefzamm

Re: Hotel Martelli

1. I have not been to this hotel.

2. It is on the way from Santa Maria Novella train station (the main one) to the Duomo...so it is right in the center of the city(!)

Look for the Mini Markets

by wilocrek

Throughout the city of Florence there are many mini markets that sell their wares at local prices. Not only are they fun to visit, as they are small and quaint and just scream Italian, but they also double as deli's where you can get a large freshly made proscuitto or salami sandwich for less than 3 euro. They also usually sell Coke's for about one euro, so its a great way to eat and stay within your budget.

Shopper's paradise

by contadina about Mercato Centrale

You can find anything you want in the Mercato Centrale. Once you find something you want, look for a low price and then start you haggling. You can get a low price just compare and offer what you think you should pay.

According to me, you can...

by anna15

According to me, you can easily reach Florence by train. The town is very well connected from and to any other Italian or European place. Try the site www.trenitalia.com, there you'll find timetables and everything if you decide to travel by train.
I'll tell you that the Tuscan countryside you can see from your window is really gorgeous!

Gente Guapa

by AlexDJ about Salamanca

Do you like spanish restaurants and their typical atmosphere? Do you like paella and flamenco dance? So you must pop to Salamanca, in the center of Florence you may discover a real hiberic place, where to taste spanish "tapas" and sangria.
During the evening you have different shows performed by flamenco's dancers , live music bands and salsa y merngue school dance!
Salamanca It is divided in wide rooms and a huge pub.
You can come to salamanca just to have a margarita or just to see who has come. I suggest you to have "gambas al ajillo" , "veiras", "paella nigra" or "albondigas piccanti".
