Closing times

Wgat time do the jewelery shops close in the evenings, are there any days they close early and where can I find any of the shops web sites?

Re: Closing times

Google. Lots of sites.

Most shops close around 6-7, but not all. Some may close later on some days, some earlier. Some will be open on Sundays, most will not be.

You only have to google 'jewellery shops florence' and, as Hawkhead says, there are lots of sites (there are rather a lot of jewellery shops in Florence). Here are 6 to get you started:

Most jewellers close at 7 pm. Many are closed on Monday mornings.
About Sunday openings, shops are authorized to stay open only for a limited number of Sundays (I think 8 in the year).

From memory the jewellery shops located on and near the Ponte Vecchio stay open quite late to cater to the throng of tourists. I would imagine their wares are rather expensive because of the location though.

Travel Tips for Florence

Stay and take your time.

by lilimj

I went on a day trip to Florence, it was rush, rush, rush. This is not a way to see this great city. Next time, I will stay for a few days. We were marched around like in the army and were'nt able to enjoy much of anything, except a certain shopping area! I still can't believe I was standing in front of the Ufizzi Gallery and we weren't even told, because we had to rush back to the bus to make time to avoid the rush hour traffic. I felt perfectly safe there, even if I traveled alone there I will stay longer next time. The nice people, I accidentaly gave 30,000 lire for a drink and it was only 3,000 and they gave it back to me, I never would have known, and the statue if David in the Accademia Gallery.
Totally awesome, a must see.

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE...

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE BARGELLO

Via del Proconsolo, 4
What the Uffizi offers in painting, the Bargello offers in sculpture and its courtyard and interiors contain some of the masterpieces of the Tuscan Renaissance.
The building's use as a National Museum began in the mid-nineteenth century, and nowadays is the setting mainly for works of sculpture and many examples of the decorative arts. In the large fourteenth century hall on the first floor are found some of the finest works of Donatello (1386-1466) such as the marble Youthful David, the St. George from its niche in Orsanmichele and the later, and more ambiguous, David in bronze.

The church of Dante and Beatrice

by paoseo

In Via santa Margherita, in a narrow little street there is an old church, smal and quiet. This is the church where Dante Alighieri met for the first time Beatrice. It was Friday February 2nd 1274.
In this little church the Portinari family have their family tomb.
The portal of the fourteenth century is adorned with the family coats-of-arms of the Cerchi, the Adimari and Portinari families that were patrons of the church.
Timetable of the church is :8.00 - 12.00; 16.30 - 19.00

A little before the church there is the a Museum of Dante's House.
It is open: during the week :10am - 5pm;on Sunday:10am - 1pm;on every first Sunday of the month:10am - 4pm. It is closed on Mondays and on the last Sunday of the month

Vintage

by fgfi about Ceri Vintage

This was an old frames shop which used to sell old toys and uniforms, too. Now it has been converted in a Vintage shop and it is one of the nicest one here! Prices are good and the variety of stuff is very interesting. Military uniforms and mementos - vintage accessories, shoes, bijoux, handbags, old toys.

truffle pizza!

by biancolina about Mastrociliega

totally normal pizzeria with pastas and meats also, always crowded, especially on saturdays when there's a fiorentina soccer game, as they have a tv. But just have pizza! its my favorite in Florence, and not touristy at all. I ALWAYS get the truffle pizza, with prosciutto. It's very rich, but oh so yummy! Forno a Legno. Pizza al tartufo
