Bus to Slovenia

by orchid1949

Does the bus Florentia still operate from Florence to Ljubljana ?

I will be in Italy in August and will take a bus to LJU from Florence.

Re: Bus to Slovenia

by Maurizioago

As far as I know thee ae daily buses from Trieste to Ljubljana. Florence lies almost in the center of Italy, thus it's very far from Slovenia.

Hy,
Yes, it does. Return ticket Ljubljana-Florence costs 62€, it starts from LJU at 05.10 and it arrives to FLO at 13.10. Back FLO 13.30- LJU 21.00. You can buy tickets here in LJU: AP LJUBLJANA D.D. – Bus Station Trg. Osvobodilne Fronte 4 +3861 2344600 .

Thank you Marco.

I will buy the bus ticket to LJU in Florence after arrive. Any moderate hotel suggested for Ljubljana in the city center not far from bus or train station.

I stayed at hotel Emonec- It's right in the city center. I wrote a tip about it. It's around 15 minutes from the train and bus station.

Re: Bus to Slovenia

Hey, is it really that cheap? Cos I was asking on the bus station in Ljubljana and they said the return ticket costs 71 eur (and there is no discount on under 26 old)...
Is it cheaper to buy it online? It says it's 63 eur, but I'm not sure about the fees you pay if buying online? Are there any?

Re: Bus to Slovenia

Hy,
Yes, it is.:)
I tried a simulation and it seems there aren't extra fees and you can also choose your seat
Ciao, Marco

Then I'm gonna buy online.
I've never bought bus tickets online, seems weird to me!;) Hope everything works as it should and I get to Florence!;)
Thanks a lot!

Re: Bus to Slovenia

One more question - do you know about reservation of return trip? Are the buses very crowded? So you need to make reservation imediately when you buy tickets? Or is it possible to go to bus when you want?

Re: Bus to Slovenia

by bekerovka

I think it's like an airline ticket: it is not flexible. When you buy a return ticket, the day is fixed. I don't know if the bus is crowded but I'm sure that many Slovenians come in Italy for seeing cities of art, and remember that the bus starts from Sofia, Bulgaria

Travel Tips for Florence

Access for Disabled Visitors

by RhineRoll

If you are a wheelchair user and planning a trip to Florence, I am urging you to order this book. It is written by Cornelia Danielson, who holds a Ph.D. in art history and is living in Florence with a disabled son. Her book "The Accessible Guide to Florence" is the result of what she has come across. I really marvel at this highly inspiring book which contains even tips on which route to take through the Boboli Gardens in order to avoid steep gradients. And -- you don't need to buy a regular guide either because the book also aptly informs about the many cultural treasures in this phenomenal city. Best guidebook investment ever!!! Cornelia Danielson

Here's San Gimignano, just in the heart of Tuscany (click on the map to enlarge). This region, indeed, contains some of the most important artistic, architectural and literary masterpieces of the entire country, though Italy - let me say it - is in itself a shrine of arts wherever you go.

Go to a soccer match. The local team, Fiorentina, is among the best of europe, with some great players (Batistuta who's nickname is Batigoal is a contender for the title 'the best scorer in the world'). The atmosphere is great, you'll see the crowd cheering and sometimes cursing, all in a very charming way. And before the game, you'll have quite an experience watching the croud singing the team's anthem: 'Oh, Fiorentina'. I had no problem finding tickets at the stadium two hours before a league game, but you should ask your hotel staff about tickets for specific games. The stadium can be easily reached by bus from Stazione di Santa Maria Novella, just follow the crouds.

Ponte Vecchio at night

by dvideira

I don't know whether Florence's nightlife is a hustle or not... I was not in the mood for it....

What I do know is that wandering around Florence at night was full of breathtaking sights like Ponte Vecchio with its lights mirroring at the Arno's waters.

I'd fly back to Florence just to eat here!

by Kristie03 about Trattoria Zàzà

This restaurant was the best! The atmosphere is cozy inside or out; just make sure you make reservations or get there early. I loved the cheese platter for an appetizer mixed with their fresh bread and olive oil with basalmic vinegar. For a main course, the truffel sauce is amazing- special order it with the spinach ravioli. The fried seafood platter was also excellent. The house red wine was also good. For dessert, I preferred to to get gelato somewhere else after I made a little room in my stomach!
