Olive Tree Suites: Again: Great Hotel in the heart of Tuscany
We've been to this hotel for a second time. And we've enjoyed it very much again. It is such a beautiful place - comfort, silence and really great view of Tuscany.

My friend and I took a “girls only” trip to Italy in September of 2008. Our first 3 nights were at Dolce Toscana outside the Tuscan countryside village of Montescudaio. Located atop a scenic bluff on 5 acres of olive and fruit trees, it was wonderfully quiet, clean and had the best bathrooms of our 10 days traveling Italy.
Our hosts Silvia and her Son Sebastian who lived in the states before opening Dolce Toscana were welcoming and gracious and even came to meet us at the square (we were lost) and escorted us to the inn. They speak English, Italian, French, German and Portuguese. Silvia made reservations for local dining, helped us to map out our day trips including Volterra, the coastal town of San Vincenzo along La Strada del Vino, San Gimignano (The wine road of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano) and Cecina. She also recommended and made our reservations to stay at a wonderful Pensione overlooking Florence where we spent our last 3 nights in Italy.
My only regret is not having stayed longer.
Quit, clean and has great bathrooms!
It was the perfect home base as there is so much to see and do within a couple of hours in any direction.

Here's the place!
http://www.terradarcoiris.it/en/agriturismo/index.html
It's called TERRA D'ARCOIRIS and you can read all about it on their website. They have an organic farm, vineyard with their own wines that you can buy, and lots of other amenities. If you click on 'gallery' at the right side of the screen you can see what the rooms look like.
This place is spectacular! They speak English also, which is helpful. According to my friend, it is very relaxing there. Check it out!

Organic farm, vineyard, unique and clean rooms, very peaceful!
I've stayed here a few times when traveling for work. Nothing terribly special, but nice enough, clean rooms- though many rooms haven't been remodeled for a while, a 1970's feel. Really good breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage... and a good restaurant in easy waking distance. The hotel is not on the Tirrenina "strip", but an easy stroll to get there.
Great breakfast, "American" style with eggs, sausage, bacon, breads, etc.
Beautiful, historic, castle in the peaceful countryside of Tuscany and amazingly affordable. Fresh firewood everyday. Staff very helpful in making dinner recommendations. Would do it again if in Tuscany. Web link http://www.gargonza.it/
pool. restaurant, wood burning fireplaces in rooms. full kitchen in rooms. breakfast included.
We've stayed here for a week. It is the best hotel for those who travel by car.
Beautiful edge, fine people, remarkable rest.

My friends and I dreamed of a trip to Tuscany, and I was tasked with finding our accommodation. I had a list of criteria I was looking for, but for the short list, I wanted a view! That was important to me. I wanted somewhere where I could sit out on a terrace, sip coffee in the am or wine other parts of the day, and overlook hills of vineyards and olive groves. I thought I found the perfect villa after scanning the internet and was a little nervous that upon arrival it would not meet my expectations. But on the contrary, my expectations were greatly exceeded! Il Borghetto has amazing views, it is in the perfect location - close to the amazing village of San Gimignano, has the most wonderful and friendly owners, and the establishment is beautiful - inside and out. I have since recommended this villa to two other friends that have stayed, and they came away feeling the same awe!

This week I have been with my girlfriend at Villa Vignacce, a great place in Southern Tuscany near the Village of Bettolle. The owner of the Villa is a young man, Giovanni, that was really nice to us. Giovanni is also a great cooker and the last day he invited us to have dinner with the family. Giovanni prepared us some incredible homemade pasta. Annalicia, the mother of Giovanni is also very nice and helps him to run the business. Near Villa Vignacce there are several Villages and towns that you should visit once there: Montepulciano (15km), Cortona (15km), Pienza (20km) and Siena (40km). This part of Tuscany is also famous for its incredible SPA like "Bagno Vignoni" and "Rapolano Terme". I would suggest to go to Rapolano "San Giovanni" that are probably the most beautiful. The owner still not have a webpage but you can contact him directly from a web site called: http://www.holiday-apartment-tuscany.net
very nice apartments, very good value for money, Familiar enviroment, walking distance to town.

We stayed in Lucca for six nights at the Piccolo Hotel Puccini, a delightful small independent hotel in the historic section near the Church of San Michele in Foro.
The service was outstanding. As a privately owned and operated small hotel, the owner/manager called us by name, gave us marvelous tips on where to eat, shop, and park. One night, we bought a delicious cake dessert, brought it back to the hotel, and shared it with him while we talked and talked.
Our room was a corner room that looked out on the Puccini Statue that is famous in Lucca. We had two large windows, a queen-sized bed, big chest, end tables, lovely small chair with material that matched the drapes. The ceilings were so tall with beautiful wood trim. Our bathroom was average size and adequate. It was quiet, comfortable, and quite attractive.
We had the perfect view, color TV, direct-dial telephone, private bathroom, firm bed, and pleasant surroundings.
All-in-all, it was a lovely six days at the Piccolo Hotel Puccini.
Note: No breakfast was served at this hotel, and that was the only drawback. However, because of that, we were able to try several places around the hotel.j

Q: Parking in Pisa "I'm planning on a day trip from Siena to Pisa. Does anyone have a suggestion on the best place to park my car and take a bus into..."
A: "You'll need to be very careful not to get caught in Pisa's ZTL (restricted traffic zone). Like all Italian ZTLs (Siena has one too, by the way) it is monitored by CCTV..."
