Local slang
by randychiara
If you hear someone saying " ci si vede" or " ci si" in Livorno, it means " see you soon" and not " we see each other"
or if u meet someone u had met before and he'll tell u " EUUUUUU!" that does not mean european community ahahah but it means " hey what' s up?"
when in Livorno u'll hear people saying " boia, deh" all the time.. these 2 words mean anything and nothing hhaha we just use them at the end of the sentence, like Americans use " , man" something like that
Also, in Livorno "fia" mean "ragazza" and "fio" means ragazzo.
the worst bad word u wanna hear from a Livornese is " IR BUDELLO ROTTO IN CULO DI TUMA' "
well pretty rude ahahah
if you wanna see the real livorno slang you should go to a soccer game at the stadium of Livorno, our team is pretty good, you'll have so much fun hearing our crazy supports sing their songs in Livorno slang hahaahha

Villa Mimbelli
by queensali
The prestigious Villa Mimbelli, a 19th-century residence that now holds the Fattori Art Museum, is worth a visit. It contains works by the local artist Giovanni Fattori, as well as paintings of the Tuscan Macchiaioli School (Signorini, Lega, Boldini). The museum is also the site of many important temporary exhibits. Closed Mondays.
Scoglio della Regina

This is all being done up and will be a tourist trap any minute I expect.
I have just gone off and done some googling to find out more about it.
There was an info board on the promenade but it had been translated into English by a machine and almost completely mystified me.
The web sites aren't much better.
But as near as I can figure it out there was an Etruscan Queen who got keen on sea bathing (about the time the English got keen on sea bathing - in the 18th century???) and had a bathing shed built for herself.
Somewhere to change and leave your wallet while you take a dip sort of thing, I expect.
All the locals got keen on it too when she set the lead and the promenade developed from there.
Seaport City

"Manuveur Through the Streets"
View of the internal part of the city center. The main avenue is Vialle CArducci that comes off the Autostrada 12. It takes you past the La Gran Cisterna, an arched architectural building just before you enter the old part of the city. The Stazione Centrale is in the main part of old town.
"Close to Other Great Cities"
This city is only 15 miles from Pisa and off Autostrada 12. It is easy to get to. Once you are there, though getting into the main old part of the city is a trip. The main corso takes you down the avenue, but then drops you right into the main square about to enter to the port water area.
