Look for Q5 for the Lucca-Pescia part and Q16 for the Pescia-Collodi part.

Lucca-Pescia can also be done by train (http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html)

Travel Tips for Lucca

Map of Lucca

by HORSCHECK

Lucca has a few Tourist Information Offices in the Old Town. One can be found at the western end at the Piazza San Donato; another one is located in the east near the Porta Elisa. Just asks them for a free map of Lucca. It gives you a good overview of the Old Town, the main sights and lists addresses of accomodations, restaurants and other tourist stuff.

Parkings

by illudiumqh36

Parking can be a problem in Lucca, not because there aren't but because almost all of them are not free. So if you want to stay for a whole day or more, parking the car can be very expensive.
Try to find free parking in the area going from the train station to Porta Elisa (try on the Walls's side or even in some streets going in radial direction from the Walls... better a walk than a fine, isn't it?). Be careful not to park in no-park zone... city policemen are really inflexible here!!!

A different-style restaurant.

by illudiumqh36 about Locanda di Bacco

This restaurant is a bit different from the other I usually suggest.
Besides the traditional dishes (i.e. fried eels) they serve some unusual dishes made using the same poor ingredeients of the tradition of Lucca and its countryside (i.e. tagliatelle made with chesnut flour seasoned with gorgonzola cheese).
Regards the wine you can choose from a set of 195 (ONE HUNDRED AND NINETY-FIVE!!!) different kinds...wacth for the price :)

Piazza

by gemmarlv

Former a Roman anphitheater, now Piazza dell'Anfiteatro (or del Mercato) it's one of the most famous place in Lucca.

There are a couple of neat shops within the pizza if you are looking for wine or ceramics. I was told it was hard to find local Lucca wine, but I saw it many places.

Piazza dell'Anfiteatro

by illudiumqh36

Former a Roman anphitheater, now Piazza dell'Anfiteatro (or del Mercato) it's one of the most famous place in Lucca.
This "piazza" mantains its old oval shape typical of the anphitheaters in roman's age, because the houses that have been built lay on the ancient basement.
Walking on the external ring of the anphitheater it is possible to see some trace of the oldest structure.
During the Middle Ages the anphitheater has been pillaged of its marbles and the interior has been filled with low wodden houses.
In 19th centrury a famous architect of Lucca, Lorenzo Nottolini, created the "piazza" as you can see in present days allocating it to one of the city markets (in fact it is also called Piazza del Mercato).
Now it has function of market only in the month of December, the rest of the year it's a very beautiful round with a lot of nice shops and cafes with tables outside. In July it is possible to find some concert in.
In spring it's wonderful to see the all houses around adorned with florid plants of red geranium.
