Albergo Diana

Hotel Diana was recommended to me by another traveller I met on the train from Rome. I called them from the train station. It is located inside the wall, direction to the right about 5 minutes walking once inside the wall.
My room was large, clean and had a television and desk. My bathroom was across the hall. It was also clean.

Unique Quality: I felt pleased that I had found a clean hotel with my budget in mind. It was within walking distance from the train station. No pool, no great view, just quiet and safe.
I felt that my belongings would be safe behind a locked door while I was out.
If you are arriving by train, this hotel is one of the few that is located close enough to lug all your suitcases by foot. Other hotels further into the town might require a taxi.
(You can get lost in Lucca quite easily, I might add.) Bring a map.

Directions: Go through main gate of wall from train station, turn right and walk 5 minutes. You will see via del molinetto branching off the street along the wall.

My cousin and I stayed here in May 2004. We were quoted 67 Euros/night (Total came to $162.92), without breakfast, in the main building

We stayed in room 20 in the main building of the hotel, located on the first floor. It was a nice room and very basic. The room had a king bed, desk, tv, armoire; large bathroom with toilet, bidet, and shower (no curtain - but there was a partial wall which kept most of the water in one spot).

The location of the hotel is excellent just inside the town walls and close to the main sights (well, Lucca is pretty small anyway). Limited parking is available for 5 Euros/day. There is also street parking outside the town walls, but that means about a 20 minute walk to the hotel. I would definitely stay at this small hotel again. The personnel were pretty friendly and helpful with recommendations.

This 2 star hotel within the walls of the old city of Lucca is conveniently located just a few minutes on foot from Lucca's train station. The room was comfortable and had tv and an ensuite bathroom.
