Petit Maison Sainte Justine B&B?

by basstbn

I have noticed an interesting listing in venere.com for the Petit Maison Sainte Justine B&B in Lucca. It has received no reviews on that site. Does anybody have any familiarity or information regarding that B&B?

Venere is a very reliable site, so when there are no reviews it means the property has only recently been listed there.

A google search brought up only one review elsewhere, on Tripadvisor and in Italian (it reads more like a promo than a review, to be honest).

I wonder if this is a newly-opened b&b or one which has been re-named?

The Botanical Garden.

by Maurizioago

Lucca has a small, but beautiful botanical garden. It was created in the 1820 as a research and education center.

The garden has a lake full of nimphs; some greenhouses; a rich collection of trees and a library.

Address; Via del Giardino Botanico, 14.

Lucca Parking

by travelrabbit

There are a surprising number of car parks in and around Lucca to allow easy access to the city. My advice would be to park in one of the lots OUTSIDE the city walls as there are a couple and they're large and almost guaranteed to have spaces available.

This is not always the case with the lots inside the city. Aside from being relatively small they could prove a challenge both in locating and navigating your way through the city to get to them. On more than one occasion I have witnessed a harried tourist with the "where the hell am I?" look worn like a mask as he or she tries to navigate the VERY narrow streets of this fun city. But if you're adventurous, go for it! There are several electronic parking monitors placed around the city that let you know how many spaces are left for a particular lot which can be of benefit especially on weekends and holidays.

If using the website, follow the link for 'Parcheggi' or just click on a 'P' sign on the Lucca map. And FYI, during the week you pay by the hour. Saturday and Sunday it's one Euro flat for the day.

Park Mazzini: 290 parking spaces
Park Lorenzini: 117 parking spaces (bicycle hire)
Park Cittadella: 106 parking spaces

Piazza Santa Maria degli Orti: 62 parking spaces
Piazza San Ponziano: 28 parking spaces
Via Elisa: 17 parking spaces
Piazza San Francesco: 33 parking spaces

Outside the walls

Park Palatucci: 753 parking spaces (bicycle hire)

Walk on the city walls

by codrutz

The most interesting feature of the city and I don't have a picture. Well I better describe you well the picture :) Lucca is fully surrounded by defence walls that stands 12 meters tall since the 13th-14th centuries, when the city had to resist to Pisa and Genoa. The walls have ten bastions and ten gates permits the entry to the city. Because the wall is double you can actually walk on the walls all around Lucca - this is very rare. So my first tip, though without picture, is to take a big tour on the city walls - of course not the whole tour but at least the west and the south part.

San Frediano Church

by Blatherwick

This Romanesque church is distinguished by its golden mosaic high on the facade. It was consecrated by the pope in the year 1147. The huge twelfth century baptismal font, the Fonte Lustrale, lies immediately at the entrance and is decorated with biblical scenes attributed to three different craftsmen. The church also houses a shrine to Santa Zita, Lucca's saint, whose mummified body is brought out once a year.
