Everywhere you go in Italy you will see very cute little cars!!
And not only are they cute, they are sensible too - particularly in a city like Lucca that has narrow streets and limited parking - the smaller the car the easier your day to day motoring is.
Now, just make sure you don't do too much shopping though....

The City Botanical Garden could be a nice spot to have a rest without having around all the mess of people (tourists and locals). It is not a big park but very quiet, with a lot of plants (obviously!) and a nice pond.

Gli Orti is a lively Trattoria and Pizzeria which can seat around 100 people. We went there more than once in 2002 but were unable to eat there in July 2004 as they were closed for annual holidays. I seem to remember that our most expensive meal there was under 40 euros for two, including a good bottle of wine, and we didn’t have pizza ! The other time when we did have pizza, the bill was around 25 euros for two.
Guinigi tower cannot be missed when seen from afar: it has oak trees growing on top, something that I have never seen anywhere else.
Guinigi Tower is part of the Guinigi house, said to have been built in the 15th century by the most important family in Lucca. They added a very tall tower to the house, on top of which planted the oak trees.
Going up the tower requires that you are fit to climb the 230 steps (I didn't count, I read this number somewhere, ..). But on the first few steps there are some illustrations on the walls interesting to read and see and which show how life was a few centuries ago. Trying to read the illustrations will provide you some moments to rest. :-)
This church, one of the most visited in Lucca, is located in San Frediano Square just beside Via Fillungo nearabout Piazza dell'Anfiteatro.
On its facade threre is a marvellous huge golden mosaic on its facade representing Christ in Majesty. In the interior the main masterpiece it's a precious example of baptesimal font with biblical episodes sculpted on; furthermore paintings and a golden organ could hit the visitor.
Another particularity of this church is the shrine of Santa Zita (a local saint) in which several relics are conserved; among all the whole mummified body of the saint herself.
