It's ok if you need only a place to sleep.

I booked a room at La Torre for four nights. It was nice, clean and the bed was comfortable. My room hadn't the bathroom or a basin inside. They have rooms with shower en suite though.

The breakfast consisted in coffee, milk or tea. Ham and cheese; a slice of both. Jam, butter, a croissant and orange juice. I also had a slice of buccellato. It's a local typical cake (see tip). This was one of the few things I liked at breakfast.

If you're going to book at La Torre, ask for a room not overlooking piazza del Carmine. This square can be noisy early in the morning due to the market's deliverers.

Unique Quality: This bed and breakfast is situated in the town centre; not far from piazza Anfiteatro and very near the Guinigi Tower.

Free internet access from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

great central rooms lucca

Elene and her husband run these great value no nonsense rooms in Piazza Del Carmine -tiled floors, comfy beds -cotton sheets -changed daily-TV- all for a ridiculously low 50 euro (Jan 07)-
Right in the epicentre of the old town .Breakfast was a brilliant experience -superb omelettes made with the yellowest eggs from the family farm, rolls ,proscuitto, formaggio, fruit, pastries and coffee all in a family kitchen-be prepared to speak Italian-and get youself heard above the din!Elene is like your Mum -but better!!Highly recommended!
Lucca tips -
Bar Rewine just off Piazza San Michele -where Luccas groovy 20-30s gang hang out -Super DJ playing funky classics like James Brown whilst offering 2euro red and white wine by the glass and a superb array of bartop eats -we had gnocchi, rigatoni alla ragu,olives,prawns,sausages,tacos-we drank 8 glasses between us and didnt need dinner at all! Cafe in Mercato Carmine had coffee @ 0.80 -a bit less than the 3 e we paid in centro!

Unique Quality: value beyond reason!
Italians know how to do things right!

Lucca Bed and Breakfast

We stayed one night at Rooms La Torre at a quiet time of year and just wanted an affordable platform to enjoy Lucca. What we got was a room on the second floor, opening off a reading room for guests stocked with english novels and travel books. The room itself was large and decorated in warm and charming Tuscan themes. Their website pictures were reasonably accurate. The shared bathroom was clean and modern but suffered from flooding due to a lack of shower curtain - but it is easy to overlook if this place fits your budget.

Unique Quality: The unexpected bonus was a sofa and a kitchenette, which would be very useful for longer stays. The included breakfast, in a separate building, was simple and nice, served by a wonderfully friendly traditional Italian lady. At 40 euro per night, it was very good value.

Rooms La Torre

In summer 2004 I stayed 3 nights in Rooms La Torre, which is a Bed and Breakfast style accomodation. They offer several rooms in two different buildings with either shared or private bathrooms.

The atmosphere is Italian relaxed and the room prices include an Italian breakfast. Due to its central location I was quite satisfied with my stay.
