Vino
by sue_stone
If you are looking to stock up on some Tuscan wine then you have come to the right place! Montepulciano is filled with wine shops and cellars, which is my idea of heaven....some people like shoe shops, I like wine shops!
Many of the wine shops have tastings so you can try before you buy. There are also a few large Cantinas that have cellars, tastings and a shop. We visited Cantine Contucci, located just off Piazza Grande. Here you can take a wander through the wine cellars and then pop into the shop for tastings and optional purchases if you so desire.
The locally produced tipple is called Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and I am a fan. It is particularly good when paired with some hand-made Pici pasta.
Honeymoon in Tuscany

"Great for wine and Romance"
When my wife and I started to look for places for our Honeymoon we wanted something really special. You really can't top Tuscany for romance and a truely great trip. We took it slow, getting rid of thoughts of Venice, Milan, and Capri, we focused on a calmer trip where we didn't try to see as much as we could in a short period of time but rather, took the time to really explore Tuscany. This made for a great trip, relaxing and exciting with many bottles of great wine on the side
"A perfect base of operations for Tuscany"
We stayed in a little Agriturismo between Torrita de Sienna and Montepulciano and rented a car to explore Tuscany. This worked great for us. We were in the center of the Noble vinyards, close to the resturants in Multipuciano and Torrita and within a short drive of all the other great sights of Tuscany. And from the pool of our vinyard we could look up the hill and see Montepulciano perched above the grape vines
