Winery tours?

by SandiM

Ok now that I've got the parking question taken care of, along comes a new quandary, put forth by my sister: On our journey from Florence to Siena (our next overnight stop), my sister wants us to stop at a winery for a tour. Great for her, but I have no interest in wine but I do have an interest in great shooting locations (scenic photography) with ambience. Between Florence and Siena, where can we stop off for a visit to a winery and satisfy us both? She can sip vino and I can snap photos.

Between Firenze and Siena sits the picturesque walled town of Monteriggioni. Just off the Autostradele Siena-Firenze before Monteriggioni sits the Castel Pietraio. Wine tasting is by appointment. This site is great for photo ops and the walled town is worth a side stop as well. See their website:

I offer you an alternative that can like you both.
From Poggibonsi, take left direction "Castellina in Chianti" and if you get a sunny day, continue for "Radda i Chianti" "Gaiole in Chianti" road
SP 408(provincial road) till Siena.
You will cros all the Chianti region, one of the best hilly areas in Italy,
where you will find hundreds of wineries (waiting for you!!) and breathtaking landscapes.
Ciao!

Plenty of choice in that area, but I can tell you that I went here

close to Castellina in Chianti and it was great!
