Travel to Firenze and tot Marina di Pisa

by marfred

Hello,

Sunday the 23th of August in want to travel from Pisa tot Florence. Is that possible? Can someone tell what the best way is to travel to this place? What is the earliest train i can take to go to Florence and what is de latest time i can go back? If it is not easy to go to Florence i want to go to Marina di Pisa. What is the best way to go there on Sunday?

I hope someone can help me.

Thank you,

Manny

Traveling from Pisa to Florence is really easy and cheap. www.trenitalia.com is the official website for timetables. Regional trains run frequently between these two cities, fare is just 5.6 euro and you don't need to book in advance, after refering to the above website, just go to the train station, buy the ticket from one of the vending machines, validate the same at the platform and board into the earliest seat. There are no seat allocation in Regional trains so choose a seat of your choice and relax. Usually Italian trains, specially Regional ones, run half empty so no worries.
Have fun!

The easiest way to reach Florenze from Pisa is by train. There is a regional train every half an hour and it cost 5.7 Euro. It needs about one hour to reach Florence.

A closer look into the official website of Italian train system, www.trenitalia.com, shows that the first train (Autobus)leaves Pisa 01:12 on the mentioned date, the second at 04:15, then 05:39 and then every few minutes.
The last train from Florence leaves at 23:07, however, subsequent trains leave at 00:37 the next calander day and 04:30.
Hope it helps!

Hello,
Regarding travelling from Pisa to Florence, there are trains departing every half an hour from Pisa to Firenze SMN (Santa Maria Novella) and they only take about +/- 1h20min and get you right in the heart of Florence. For the schedule, you can check out the website www.trenitalia.com - on the top you can even choose the "English" option.
I do not know about travelling to Marina di Pisa, but from the Pisa train station in 40 mins. you can also get to the sea in the so-called "Versilia" area, which is the northern coastal area of Tuscany. The best train station to get to is Viareggio (closest to the sea). You then could rent a bike for example. The entire area has a bicycle lane along the shore and from Viareggio going north, you will find nice beach towns like Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi.

Take a walk around the Square of Miracles and see its four main attractions: the Baptisterium, the symbol of birth; the Cathedral of Maria Asunta, the symbol of life; the monumental cemetery, the symbol of death; and the 'falling' Tower of Pisa.

Houses along the Arno

by tompt

The main river through Pisa is the Arno. Walking from the trainstation to the campo dei miracoli it was the first interesting thing we saw. The houses along the Arno are coloured in Tuscany style, which gave it that special atmosphere.

Walking around the streets of Pisa is a great activity. The Arno river is near the Tower of Pisa and there's lot of shopping stores and restaurants that are very busy each day....however at certain times, they close and you won't see anybody outside....kind of strange...

Here's some more Roman remains I stumbled across opposite Torre Guelfa on the south bank of the river.

Directions: Just down from San Paolo a Ripa d'Arno church near the bridge that goes to Torre Guelfa.
