a cheap place to stay for 2 nights

by martina282

Dears,

We are going to visit Pisa in October with a group of people: 10 adults plus 4 children (less than 2 years old each).
My question is: we are looking a cheap place to stay for 2 nights. It would be the best if we could stay in one room (children on the bed with parrents).
Do you know some hostels or maybe people who rent their own flat for travelers?

I would be grateful for your answers.

anyway - thank you very much for your reply and advise.

I see you posted this in April hope you are still wanting the info. I too am going to Pisa next week, and have booked into Hostel Pisa, Via Corridoni.. I can't give you any reviews as I haven't stayed there before, it only opened this year. But it is very cheap, for me in a female dorm it is 13 Euros per night. There is more than one hostel in Pisa with this name, which is why I gave you the street name as well. Happy travelling.

Travel Tips for Pisa

It is worth the trip

by sue_stone

Pisa is something special..........ok, it is not Venice or Florence, but it is sure worth a visit, even if you only have a few hours.

A lot of people have told me they were told not to bother going there as there is nothing special to see........but what about that gorgeous tower!!!!

At least stop by, climb the tower and reward yourself with an excellent gelato afterwards. Pisa is a bit like a mini Florence - beautiful buildings, the river, the gelato.

Most people just go to the Piazza and see the tower, look at the Duomo and then leave. We quite enjoyed walking around the city and looking at the different shops, the architecture and watching people. Buy an ice cream and sit in a park, just be sure to see more than just the Piazza.

Construction History on the Tower

by filipdebont

Construction History on the Tower:

- The works on the foundation started on 9 August 1173.

- The tower was constructed in the course of about 200 years.

- The third order had only just been completed when, in c. 1178, the building works were suspended.

- Around 1272 the construction was recommenced, only to be interrupted again, at the level of the 7th cornice, in c. 1278.

- The construction of the belfry (8th order) began around 1360 and was completed 10 years later. the leaning of the tower

3 great entrance-gates

by globetrott

all of the 3 entrance-gates of the Duomo are decorated with excellent works of art.
It is not only the sculptured pictures in the centre, but also the frames are beautifully decorated everywhere.
Just imagine, how much work is involved and think of the fact, that the majority of these artists in the medieval times did not get a big salery, but just enough to eat and a little money, but of course they had some privilidges as well

Bagni di Nerone

by susancallus

As you can see there are more places of interest a tourist can visit in Pisa! I prepared a list before and Bagni di Nerone was one of them. Bagni di Nerone or Roman Baths are situated not far from Campo Dei Miracoli. Although they are very small (not as i thought) it's worth it to go and take some pictures. (It's marked No.2 if you click on the other photo).
