Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

We stayed in a twin bed ensuite room which was excellent. The hotel was great value for money and a perfect location for the city centre. The reception staff were great fun and full of local knowledge. We had a fantastic time in Pisa and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Unique Quality: very clean

Directions: near tower

Decent Accommodation in Pisa

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)

This is a pretty decent hotel to stay for a day, maybe two. The rooms are small and fairly spartan in their decor, but it is clean, ideally located and the reception is very friendly. If you get Room 201 or 202, you get a balcony with a partial view of the tower. This is a shared balcony between the two rooms, so if there are groups travelling, I would definitely try to secure these rooms. My only complaint with this place is that the walls are paper thin. You can hear mobile phones ringing or getting text messages from other rooms, it's that bad. Our room (201) was also near a storage closet and throughout the night, the staff were constantly going in to get things and talking rather loudly. I felt it was a bit over-priced for what you get, but given the location and that most accommodation in Pisa was around this price, I don't know if you could really get a better deal. Also, if you book directly off their website, I think you get a better price quote than when you book via other booking services such venere, etc.

Unique Quality: Proximity to tower, breakfast terrace has tower views.

Getting There: I think Bus Nr. 1 goes down Via Santa Maria, but the bus drivers didn't understand anything, so my advice is to just ask for any bus going to the Leaning Tower and walk from there. You'll have more buses to choose from and will ultimately get to the hotel quicker. I would advise against walking from Central Station..it's a bit far with luggage.

Directions: 50 meters from Leaning Tower

We stayed at the Hotel Francesco for 2 nights. Me and my friend went to Pisa by train from Switzerland and took a bus from the train station to the hotel, it was very easy. The staff was very helpfull and we didnt speak italian, but they spoke english and german which helped a lot. They gave us some good tips about nice restaurants near by and what to see in town.

Unique Quality: The hotel was small but very nice and clean. The bedroom and bathroom were a good size and very clean also. Breakfast was good and only 5 euros per person. The location was very good, only steps from the tower and surounded by nice restaurants and ice cream shops.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights. the location was great, right by the tower and very close to downtown Pisa with many restaurants to choose from. The room was large for Italian standarts and so was the bathroom. The staff was very nice and polite and spoke english which was great. There was free internet and breakfast was delicious and only 5 euros.

Unique Quality: From the balcony of the hotel you can see the tower as you are eating your breakfast.

An excellent family hotel

We stayed in the Hotel Francesco from 26 December 2004 to 4 January 2005 and we had a wonderful time! Several of the staff are English speaking. We will go back and I would certainly recommend a stay in this hotel.

The shutters of our room's windows opened onto the Via Santa Maria. The walls are at least two feet think and I have very good memories of sitting in the window sketching and watching Italy walk by.

Breakfast is typical Italian. Bread, jam, cheese, a variety of sweet rolls, coffee, juices, etc... If you like cereal they had a variety of those as well. There was always plenty and the ladies who work in the breakfast area are very helpful.

We had a triple room for about $110 per night and were very comfortable with two adults and one child. The bathroom is small by American standards but it was still very nice.

This is a family owned hotel and Giovanni, one of the owners, is frequently on duty at the front desk. He even took us to the airport so we could avoid cabfare!

Unique Quality: This hotel is located on the Via Santa Maria right down the street from the leaning tower. We could see the tower from the patio as we had breakfast every morning! The hotel is also right next to the botanical gardens.

Directions: On Via Santa Maria right off the Field of Miracles.

Hotel Francesco was conveniently located within sight of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a fun strip of restaurants and cafes. The room was very clean and comfortable and free coffe and internet conection very important for me.

Unique Quality: We really enjoyed sitting on the terrace surrounded by flowers eating our breakfast, and seeing the tower close by. Air conditioning wonderful at night.

Directions: The hotel was only a short walk to the Field of Miracles( The Leaning Tower), so excellently positioned, especially as we were only in Pisa one day
