This is an ultra modern hotel set just outside the town of Pisa, very close to the hospital - which has pros and cons in itself. Being close to the hospital means public transport links are great, but you also get ambulances haring round at all hours. The sirens are not as intrusive as the ones in the UK though and you get used to it.
The room was spacious, helped by the abundance of mirrors! Having eight foot wide mirrors on opposite sides of the room creates an unusual hall of mirrors effect which is a little disturbing at first. The lighting was a bit harsh for me, but it was good for reading. We only ate breakfast in the hotel but the restaurant looked very popular in the evenings.
They have a lovely outside area with huge wicker chairs and cushions to sink into.
Unique Quality: The mirrors took a lot of getting used to, and the cardboard cut-outs of staff dotted around the place were a a little bit eerie.
Directions: By the hospital
Stayed for just one night after a few days in Florence, stayed in Florence during the week and had an early flight out of Pisa so thought it a good idea to stay nearer the airport. I really wish we had stayed for the whole week and travelled into Florence! The staff were extremely helpful and the food in the restaurant was just stunning. The room was perfect and the facilities first class. We left at 4.30am and the desk assistant arranged our travel to the airport quickly with a cab arriving within a few minutes.
Unique Quality: Probably one of the best value boutique hotels I have come across the prices for room service and drinks in the bar were so reasonable I thought they had made a mistake! The set Tuscan 5 course meal in the restaurant was without doubt some of the best food I have eaten in a four star hotel. I would recommend this Hotel and will be staying again soon.

The hotel looks hip, and I wonder if the area is safe?
What type of area is it? Commerical or residential mostly?
How far is it to the city center, and to the airport?
Is it walking distance to the field of miracles?
I know that is a lot of question...;-p
Thank you all!!
The area surrounding San Ranieri Hotel is semi rural. There are a lot of fields and some housing. It is very convenient for the airport but you are about 6 kms
from the Piazza dei Miracoli. You may need to check out buses with the hotel concierge.
