Hostel Pisa.

by serenagrimaldi

I'm going to Italy in acouple of weeks time, and would like to know if anyone has stayed at Hostel Pisa via corridoni. It is very new, and I can't find any reviews for it. Thankyou.

Hmmmn, yeah, their website (http://pisahostel.com/) says that they opened this summer, so I can believe that there are no reviews...note, however, that they have a positive comment from someone on their Facebook page - see http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=22147597818&ref=ts#!/group.php?gid=22147597818&v=wall&ref=ts

Good catch, J! Hmmmn, the hostel crowd has been very busy reviewing the place in a very short time...I wonder how many are spoofed?

Don't know for certain if hostelworld only allows reviews posted after a stay booked through the site has been completed (like venere and booking.com) but think it does. And also think you have to pay a deposit when you book through them, so suspect reviews are probably valid. It's a v v popular site.

Travel Tips for Pisa

Friendly vendors in Pisa

by cinthya_in_victoria

My fondest memory was when I was buying a souvenir and as soon as the vendor knew I was Mexican, he started to sing a Mexican song called 'El Rey' and we sang along! Then he gave me a postcard as a gift and told me he was in love of Mexico. Those are the little moments that make life so enjoyable :)

Go to the Leaning Tower. I've heard it's now open to the general public. Ironically, I'm standing there in awe of what I've only known through school books as a child, and my wife is bartering with the locals over some shirts!

Cosimo De' Medici

by Azhut

Cosimo De' Medici is considered the real founder of the political fortunes of the most important family in Tuscany: The Medici. Through banking and commerce, the family acquired great wealth in the 13th century. They had many connections with Pisa becuase of their commerce around Europe, and don't forgetthst Pisa is very close to Florence where they had their "head quarter".
Cosimo was highly cultured and promoted letters and arts as well as the Tuscan economy and navy. He founded the Accademia della Crusca, a body charged with the promotion of the Tuscan language (which has become the standard Italian of today), the Accademia del Disegno (Academy of Design), renewed the university of Pisa (Scuola Normale SUperiore), and conquered Siena and Lucca.

Multi-ticket

by Helga67

If you are planning to visit more than one monument/museum on the Piazza dei Miracoli, then take a multi-ticket, it's cheaper. We had a ticket for two monuments and paid 6 EUR. Unfortunately, the expensive entrance fee to the tower (15 EUR) cannot be included in the multi-ticket.

There are four places on the square, where you can buy your ticket. They are indicated by a red sign "tickets".

Terme Romane

by Willettsworld

Just a short walk along Via Cardinale Pietro Maffi east from the Leaning Tower are the remains of the citys Roman baths. It didn't look like it was possible to walk round the remains when I visited.
