While the hermitage is located on the Appennine (1100 mt), the monastery is 3 km away, but they're both surrounded by a big wonderful forest.
If the hermitage is the place of silence, the monastery has always been "open" to the world.
If you suffer from car sickness, then don't forget to take some pills or chewing-gum. There are sharp bends all the way, so... be careful!!! I've taken this picture as we stopped because of my car sickness... :-)

The monastery of Camaldoli, founded in the 11th century by Saint Romualdo is located inside the old forests of Casentino.
Apart from the monastery, there's a church, a lodge and an ancient pharmacy.
