First trip to Italy- villa in Tuscany
"Tuscany- place to stay"
This was my first trip to Italy. I knew exactly what I wanted - to stay in a Villa in the hills of Tuscany with an Italian family. My husband and I spoke no Italian and did not want to drive in Italy. We were looking for an Italian family who spoke english and would also drive us where we wanted to go. I searched and searched and finally found what "sounded like" the perfect place. Alberto and his family live in Pontassieve, a village east of Florence. He said that he would pick us up at the Train station in Florence and drive us to Relais-Chiara e Lorenzo, his 14th Century Villa . I was hesitant, would this Alberto guy really show up? We sent the deposit for our stay. Our luxury room with private bath was approximately $73 a night and this included breakfast.
We also hired Alberto to drive us to the Cinque Terre Area for a day trip, and to visit some leather outlets and a winery. We took a train one day for a full day of shopping in Florence.
We had a wonderful time! Alberto and his wife are both wonderful cooks and fixed a wonderful Italian dinner for us every evening.
There was one more American couple and an Austrailian family staying there also. We had a really nice visit with them.
Our vacation was absolutely perfect in every way.
I am sorry that I do not have pictures to share but this was before I purchased my digital camera.
I highly recommend anyone going to Florence to contact Alberto at Relais-Chiara e Lorenzo.com
Tell him that Carol from Texas sent you.
