South Gate

by purrfect16

Hello! We've booked a night at Belsoggiorno (Via San Giovanni 91), which I'm told is close to the south gate entrance. I've been unable to find a map that has the south entrance listed. The hotel is north of a roundabout where the east street is named Viale Roma. I'm trying to figure out where the bus drops off! (And which street is the actual entrance) Please help!

Supberb hotel with great food.....going back in April.
The bus will stop 200 metres from th e south gate which will be patently obvious to you as people will be flooding in and out. The hotel entrance is 50 metres through the gate on you right hand side.
This is a link for the map on the hotel website
At the bottom of the map, to the right of A1 Firenze Siena, you will see an area that looks like a tomato that has been sliced through the middle.
This is actually a small square with trees in the middle which is where your bus will stop.
Have a good one,

Thanks Billy! We're excited for the trip and it's great to hear from someone that's stayed there before!

Travel Tips for San Gimignano

Flowered village

by micas_pt

One of the most pleasing characteristics of San Gimignano are the flowered windows and balconies. As we visited in summer, plants were blooming and most windows and backyards were brightly “dressed” in colourful flowers.

If you enjoy photography, San Gimignano’s flowered balconies and backyards will provide plenty of opportunities to use your camera, so pack some extra film or memory card.

Time to relax...
Playing piano above the town with nice view to the bustling streets must be nice.
If there's anyone interested in this man's music - I've got a short video of him on my PC.

Medieval criminal museum

by Aurorae

A thrilling and shocking exposition in the medieval criminal museum, instruments of torture! All the possible horror instruments, torture device and methods are described in detail, and exposed in full sight! And all of them are authentic, they have REALLY been used!!!

The Pear

by Aurorae

In my opinion the most vicious and most disgusting item i have seen. The Pear. As you can see, it has three sides that open like the bottle of wine opener, as you screw the "head" (OK, no thoughrs of *that* kind please!!), the pear opens like flower petals. Inside of you! And destroys your guts. It was placed inside the anus, vagina or mouth, or any hole you can find on the body where it fits, you name it, and once there, and open - you're ripped inside out. Yuk!!!!!

Inside the Church of Sant'Agostino

by Willettsworld

The choir is entirely covered in a cycle of frescoes of "The Life of St Augustine" (1465) executed by the Florentine artist Benozzo Gozzoli. These are some of the cleanest and clearest I saw on my travels in Italy.
