Buses from Siena to chianti Region and Also to Umbria

by Louisa58

Hello - we will be in Italy in April/May 2008. We are staying in Panzano-in-Chianti and want to travel to Siena to pick up our rental car. does anyone know what bus line runs from Panzano into Siena (or is there one?). also, does anyone know what bus line runs from Siena to Umbria (Todi, in particular). The train goes there, but there are too many changes and it takes a long time. We are not sure if we are going to keep the rental car for our week in Umbria - we plan to stay in Todi. Does anyone have any advise?

Also, does anyone know where the Hertz Rental agency is located in Siena? Is it far from the bus or train station? Thanks.

You will love Panzano. It is beautiful and the views from the edge of town are incredible. We ate at a little trattoria, Oltre il Giardino, and it was cold so we ate inside. If you can eat out on the terrace, the views are to die for. The food is pretty good too . . . 8^)

There are lots of buses in the area because we took the bus from San Polo to Florence several times. However, we did have a car and used it while down around the Greve area where Panzano is located.

Hopefully someone will answer your question about transportation. I know you will love the area. It is just spectacular.

take a look at this web site: http://www.panzano.com/getting_to_panzano/getting_to_panzano-eng.htm
there are the info about the bus line.

In Siena the train station is at about 200 meters from the Hertz rental.

Ciao.

Found a bus web site but it's in Italian. It was through a hotel web site but it's the bus we took into Florence from Grassina, the SITA bus.

After the strawberries and champagne

...it's enough to make you smile after brunch like that. The balloon ride was exhilarating...if a bit too short.

Here with Villa Piccola Siena's marketing director who's pretty good at convincing you to try out all their different ways to enjoy Tuscany.

Really nice Italian food

by rexvaughan about Guido's

Guido's sounds like a cheap spaghetti place in Atlanta, but it is a really nice restaurant in Siena. My wife says it was one of the 2 best meals we had in Italy in 2 weeks. It is on a back street (aren't they all) off the Campo and has an informal but elegant feel to it. It is not the cheapest place, but well worth the money. We had bruschetta, mist salad, cannoli ala Guido (cream sauce with eggplant), spinach, rustici ala Guido (pasta with cream sauce, asparagus, mushrooms and truffles) washed down with a nice Chianti Classico and topped of with Creme Ciliegia (a delicious custard with cherry sauce). All of it was delicious.

The Pulpit

by Venturingnow

Inside, on the left hand side of the church, you will find the wonderful wooden Pulpit that is Nicola Pisano's masterpiece. He made the Pulpit sometime in the 13th century, and he included elegantly Gothic panels and massive lions that hold up the columns of the pulpit.
