Nice knockers
The doors in Siena, in typical Italian style, are fine examples of the Italian artisans' talents. They are usually embellished with impressive door knockers. Check out belgianchocolate's Siena page for more knockers.

Yep...there is no such thing as a Holiday Auto office anywhere, because they are a broker for other car rental agencies...to quote their website:
"...We search the world for the best car hire companies and the best prices so that you don't have to...
We only work with the most reknowned global suppliers and the best local operators worldwide; ensuring you the highest level of service. Alamo, Avis and Hertz are among our top suppliers. "
That's why they won't tell you until you get the coupon...

If you are not from a tour bus you will probably have time to wander around and see Siena from the inside out.
Put your map away and take a wrong turn. Enjoy such an historical city.\

Costs 6,50€ and takes 1.15 hours to get from Siena to Firenze. Very convienient. Just take a bus from buscentral (near fortezza) with a text Firenze rapido. There is another bus with txt Firenze direta but this bus goes through Poggibonsi and Colle di Val d'Elsa (and is some 20 min slower).
Rapide goes like twice in an hour: 7.10; 8.00; 8.10; 8.50; 9.10; 10.10; 11.10; 11.50 (you will get a time table from the ticket office down below the bus station).
Remember to buy your ticket beforehands and validate it when you step in. You can buy two tickets at the same time (in both directions)
If you want to see one of the most impressive piazza's in Italy, then head to Siena's Piazza del Campo. This shell-shaped square is the heart of the city - its unusual shape and sloping sides make it a very intriguing place, surrounded by grand buildings and tourist-filled cafes.
The square was constructed in the 1340's, and in medieval times was the location for all civic events - from bullfights to horse racing to executions.
On the upper side of the piazza there is the rectangular Fonte Gaia - the Fountain of Joy - which gurgled its first waters in 1346. The fountain surrounds & carvings that you see today are 19th century replicas of the originals that have been severely weathered (and are now displayed in the Spedale di Santa Maria della Scala.
The main building on the square is the Palazzo Pubblico, which is the seat of the Sienese Government, and home to the Museo Civico. Next to this is the stunning, 102 metre high Torre del Mangia.
The square is still home to civic events, such as the twice annual Palio horse race, which dates back to 1310, and various other parades which see the Sienese don traditional dress and fill the square with music and colour.
The Baptistery of Duomo is also known as the parish church of San Giovanni. The facade, executed in white marble, was designed by Domenico D'Agostino and was finished in 1382. The interior, however, was designed by Camaino de Crescentino and dates back to 1325.
There are number of valuable frescoes inside the Baptistery, works of Vecchietta, Matteo from Bologna and Benvenuto di Giovanni, but the most important work is the ciborium by Jacopo della Quercia.
