Since I never make booking in advance, had no idea where to stay in Siena. It is my habbit to walk around for a while when visiting unknown destination in order to get idea where to stay. If possible, I am looking for the hotel which is in a walking distance from the major historic sights of the town. At the end, I was lucky to find an free room at hotel Italia which is situated just a hundred meters out of the city walls, next to Porta Camollia.
"Italia" is well positioned three stars hotel with comfortable airconditioned rooms and bathroom. There is also mini-bar, TV set and free acces to the internet. The only thing I found unconvinient is the parking, which is very small and for few cars only. The hotel stuff is most helpful and very friendly. My single room, breakfact inclooded, cost me 65,00 euros.
This hotel is ok. Rooms are very basic and not in a great state of repair. Everything was very clean and all basic needs are met. Location is really good. There is a 5 min walk into the city walls but after that you are in an area that is lovely to explore. If you get a good rate go for it!
Oh! there is a fruit stand next to the hotel and we learned the hard way THE FRUIT IS NOT TO BE TOUCHED! the guy will scream at you like a maniac!! :o)
