Elegant Old Hotel in Siena
by Paul2001 about Palazzo Ravizza
This hotel was a pure joy to stay at. The hotel itself is about 160 years old. I was told by the establishments employees that the building itself dates from the 15th century however one guide book I checked said that it is not that old. Regardless this place has a great deal of historical charm, the sort that one seeks when journeying through Italy.
When I stayed I also the cost also covered my dinner which turned out to be a pleasant deal. The restaurant is quite good and I highly recommend it. The rooms are quite larg, for Italy anyway. Each room is decorated in a very aged style and it seems that you have walked right into the mid19th century when you enter your room.
The Palazzo Ravizzo also has a pleasant bar which opens out to a very charming garden.
Ironically I did not plan on or want to stay at the Palazzo Ravizzo because it was above my travelling budget. The only reason I stayed there at all was because every other hotel in town was full as there was a festival in town that I had not known about. However because my meals where paid for the whole experience was very pleasant and rather economical.

A romantic hotel in Siena
by TripAdvisor Member eleanort6
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Palazzo Ravizza in Siena as part of our tour of Tuscany. The ordinary frontage does not do justice to the treasure within. An old converted palace, the hotel sits within the old-town walls of Siena, a five minute walk from Il Campo (the town "square") and all that Siena has to offer (it's a very small medieval town!). Huge bedroom, luxury bathroom (shower only) and antique-filled salons make your 3* stay feel more like 5*. If you add to this room service, a great restaurant and free internet access it's a steal. It also has one of the only gardens in the town, where you can sit and watch the sun go down while sipping a G&T, or even eat on the prettily lit terrace. Service was unbeatable - they even arranged for us to use the swimming pool of another hotel when it got too hot to see the sights. A very romantic place to stay - we will never forget.
Beutiful, luxurious room

We stayed in a suite with a garden view. The room was immense, with a sitting area and an entrance to a garden patio. The bathroom had a jacuzzi, plush bathrobes and other ammenities. We only stayed one night but wished we had more time.
The breakfast was good, but the restaurant wasn't open yet so we couldn't have dinner there.
There was free internet access, a plus for our daughter, and nice sitting areas on the main floor. The garden view was beautiful.
The staff was more formal than we found in other hotels, but not unfriendly.
From the hotel, you can walk to everyplace in Siena. The cathedral is a few minutes away. We loved this town!

Easily accessible by the main roads and yet within the old city walls. I'm more enthusiastic about sea-and-mountain views, but the view of the western hills are fantastic. Excellent staff. One of the best restaurants in all of Siena, which is never full, is also in the hotel. The rooms also had modern plumbing, etc. Free parking, Internet access. Great garden patio for pre-dinner wine.
On the downside, the rooms are on the small side -- not bad, but typical for "European" sizes. The elevator moves with a mind of its own.
You have to spend at least three days in Siena, and they give you a discount if you do. So go do it. Great value.
Amazing view

We stayed here for two night during our recent trip to Italy. Our room (superior) was huge by European standards with a clean modern bath. The view framed by our large garden side window was absolutely breathtakeing. The location within the city center walls is ideal. The free parking and free internet service are great bonuses. Great English speaking staff They were very helpful when my friend left her passport, airline tickets and a significant amount of cash in the room safe when we left. All arrived intact when delivered to our hotel in Florence. Would highly recommend.

We recently (May 2004) spent just one night here. Now I wish it was a week! What a beautiful hotel. Our room was very large with a view of the garden. The staff was wonderful. We had car trouble and they beyond and above the call of duty to help us. They recommended 2 lovely restaurants in town. Just a great place in a lovely city. Breakfast was nice, Not the best we've had, but certainly acceptable. The terrace and bar is a lovely place to just hang out and relax.
We love this place...

We have stayed at the Palazzo twice, both times in December (most recently, Dec. 2003). This place is the best. We visit Italy often and this is one of our favorite places. It has a great location, extremely warm, helpful staff and great common and individual rooms. Because we travel with out kids (11 and 8) we get suites. Althought they tell you that suite #1 is nicer, it isn't true. Suite/room # 3 is wonderful. Both rooms have the most amazing, large tubs that we have ever seen. The buble bath in the jacuzzi is great. Ask them to make your dinner reservations across the Campo at La Taverna di San Giuseppe. It is memorable!!

Beautiful + romantic rooms overlooking the garden. We had an amazing room with 20 foot ceilings, huge bathroom. Breakfast in the garden in the morning was very tranquil and a great start to the day in Siena.
Would def. recommend this hotel, a short walk into the piazza del campo. Veyr firendly staff + free internet in the foyer.
Couldnt have asked for anything more.

Is there a bus leaving Assisi between 11AM to 1PM on Sundays this October 2005?
How long is the trip to Siena?
Thanks!

Hi
I dont know exactly about the bus schedules, but you are most likely to travel to Perugia and then change bus or train there. Siena is fantastic; the Palazzo Ravizza is a very nice hotel and very centrally located in Siena.
