Absolutely delightful!

We stayed 2 nights at Villa Elda. Giorgia was warm and welcoming. We could not understand the complicated directions to return our rental car outside of town, so Giorgia's father lead us down in his car and drove us back to the hotel!
The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful, and don't miss the roof top terrace with its priceless view of the old city. This little hotel was the highlight of a 25 day trip through Italy.
Perfect small hotel

Having just return from our stay at Villa Elda I felt I must let everyone know what an ideal retreat this is. Giorgia will greet you with such warm hospitality to the calm of this lovely hotel set in a quiet road not more than a 15 minute walk from the centre of the old town of Siena. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms bright and airy with beautiful bathrooms, and nothing is too much trouble. If stairs are a problem then ask for a room on the ground floor. Each morning you will have a buffet breakfast that is more than adequate with delicious fresh croissants, ham, eggs, fresh bread, fresh orange juice, pastries and wonderful coffee. This hotel comes highly recommended.
Friendly, but not good value

We stayed at the Villa Elda over the long Mayday weekend (2008). We had booked via email with them directly about 4 weeks previously, having identified the hotel through Trip Advisor. The hotel has an excellent ambience with a nice garden and terrace, and is well positioned, some ten minutes walk from the Campo, but ouside the city walls,so avoiding the bustle (and allowing parking - on-street, but was readily available). We paid 180 euros per night. We live in Italy so knew this was not cheap, but were prepared to spend a bit more for a nicer place. Our room was room #1, which was not in the hotel itself, but an annex behind the hotel. it was dark and shared a building with two apartments (not connected with the hotel), and the hotel laundry and the sound from the apartments was very noticeable. We asked to change but the other rooms in the main hotel were all booked. One night we were knocked up by another guest, who was ill, who had assumed that the annex must be for hotel staff and was seeking assistance. On the plus side the manageress was absolutely charming and most apologetic. She gave us our breakfast on the roof terrace as recompense. There were mainly Americans guest there, and the manageress said v. few Italians stayed there. All in all I could see why. The hotel is definitely one for those who value the personal touch, but is not good value for those familiar with Italian hotel prices. In particular I would make sure that you are not in room 1. Try to request a front facing room with a view of the city.
