Hotel Torre dell'Osa

 This 4* small and recent hotel (15 rooms) is located not in Talamone itself (at 5 km) but just south of Fonteblanda at Km 156 on the Via Aurelia.
The hotel is located at 200 m from the road, hidden by the vegetation, and at about 200 m from the sea but there is no access to the beach as the hotel is bordered by a small river. For the beaches you have to take your car.
As the main road S1 is close to the sea the hotels and camping's in this green area undergo some noise of the traffic in the morning, later it becomes rather quiet; there is also a railway at a few hundred meters of the road but there is no traffic at night.
We had chosen this hotel because it was not far from the road and we had to do visits and were not interested by the beach. I must say that at night the hotel and surroundings were very quiet.

The hotel is of a villa type with medium sized rooms on ground floor and first floor. The hotel and rooms are well kept, everything is very clean and all appliances worked perfectly (just AC was a bit weak in efficiency). The TV in the rooms is only in Italian. The park with swimming pool (not heated at the end of September) sun beds, umbrella's, palm trees, flowers, is very nice (see photos) and well looked after.
For the cars there is sufficient parking space under a roof.

We found that the personal at the reception (they know English and French) and at the restaurant were very kind.

Last but not least the restaurant serves excellent food. There is a menu at 29 € with a choice between two antipasti, primo piatto, secundo piatto and desert. It was also possible at noon to have lunch in the garden taking only one dish (around 10 €). Good choice of wines around 15 €/bottle. It is really worthwhile to try the restaurant of the hotel Torre dell'Osa.

It should be noted that all hotels in this very touristic area of south Tuscany have a very strict cancellation policy asking already 30% of the total journey price for cancellations 4 weeks before arrival. Read the terms before making a reservation.
