Tribute to Leonardo
by egonwegh
A tribute to Leonardo - a three-dimensional representation of his famous drawing of the Ideal Man, aka Vitruvian Man. The idea was that there are mathematical proportions of the human body that define human beauty - I was never any good at maths! Leonardo combined a careful reading of ancient Greek texts with his own meticulous observations of actual human bodies ("The psychology of physical attraction", London : Routledge, 2008)
Leonardo's Home Town - Vinci
by pigletsmom
"Touristy? Yes, but it still has it's integrity."
Of course Leonardo was born here, but that's not the only reason to visit Vinci. They do pimp the hell out of Leonardo in this little town, but some how they do it with rustic charm. You can actually visit the house where Leonardo was born. It's a light hike up a hill behind the town.
"Gorgeous Scenery"
This town has some of the best views in Tuscany, and the town is quite quaint. There is a very nice museum on Leonardo, and tons of gifts shops selling his likeness, but the town still has a very nice feel to it. And the views are really gorgeous. The gift shops have some very nice souvenirs.
VINCI - LEONARDO'S BIRTHPLACE
by sandysmith
VINCI, famous for the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, is located on the slopes of Montalbano. The museum is a must see to learn more about the genius Leonardo. Don't forget to explore the lovely countryside around here too.
Ever since this visit I have become more and more fascinated with Leonardo's inventions and his life story - the man was amazing. Vincii is a great place to learn about him and buy lots of souvenirs too. His style of writing was most peculiar too - backwards and a mirror image!
