Climb the Via Appia
A really fun, fun thing to do is to walk up all the steps on Via Appia. Try doing it without stopping. Via Appia runs alongside the old aqueduct. Who needs to hit the Stairmaster after this little excursion?

perugia is probably most famous for its chocolate, baci-italian kisses. we arrived in perugia for the imfamous chocolate festival. it was fantastic. you would not belleve how many things the people of perugia can make out of chocolate. chocolate pasta, chocolate bread, pastries, etc. we had a chocolate glutton-fest. the people of perugia are charming as well, just as sweet as their chocolate. however, a little disclaimer, perugia is not a big or touristy place at all, so right when you get there find a place to sleep. My roommate and I thought that we could book later and decided to have a drink or two first. needless to say once the town went to bed, we were homeless, and had to sleep on the streets that night. but i guess if anywhere perugia is the safest for crashing on the curb.

A: "Perugia is pretty hilly. You might want to rethink your base. How about Lucca? It's flat and would be more accessible to a wheelchair. Just a thought."
